TTs Chicks Pics and Ramblings

Me and the boys got fence up across part of the front of our property last Saturday :woot. Wanted to get it up along the side through the woods, but didn't because there is water almost knee high (that's above my water boots!) May try this weekend though. A guy stopped while we were putting up fence wanting to know if I'd be willing to breed my Dussa to his older english bulldog cause he wants a puppy from his dog :idunno I don't think I want to do that and end up with a litter of pups that folks can't afford to buy right now.

DH & I are trying to quit smoking :fl - we haven't had a cig since Sunday. I bought patches this payday instead of cigarettes. I haven't said much to very many people.

DH has been clearing the woods at the back of the yard this week - 1 because we want to extend the back yard a ways and 2 because there is at least one pile of dirt back there :idunno and if we can get to it we can put it in our drive way - free dirt :clap I think after that we are going to rent/beg/borrow a tractor and at the front - where the water kept me from putting up fence - we want to have a pond so we'll start that and use that for our driveway too. 2 birds with 1 stone :celebrate Of course it will take longer than just buyiing dirt - but why should we buy what we already have?

Just placed my order for a Water Fowl special (4 geese & 6 ducks their choice) with Cackle :weee Never ordered from them before :fl I also ordered our next 25 Cornish Xs from McMurray - need to get them grown out before the ones in the freezer are gone :)

Today is 1 year since I lost my Dad :hit I sure do miss him

Thanks - Ive been working outside - keeps my mind occupied :) Pulled the nest boxes and re-did them. Put some tin over the top :fl hopefully they'll quit hanging out and pooping :sick in the nest boxes!

:woot It's been dry this week - so the pond where I park is almost dry :ya Of course now suddenly the rain chances have increased and it might rain tomorrow and Monday - :fl :fl if we don't get much - I don't want any! - I can have dirt brought in next week !!!

I got chicks!!! well they are meaties for the freezer, but they're still chicks and they are cute for now :D

A guy stopped to ask me that once when I was walking my pit bulls... he wanted to breed his male to my dog... I said 'she's spayed and not purebred'... he said 'that's okay'... :he

I politely as possible said no thanks :)

Yay for the chicks... I can't wait to get some this year, mine will be meaties too but it's my first chicken raising experience so I'm starting out simple...

This is our 3rd set of birds for meat - but only the 2nd that are actually meat birds. They are really good eating :D The meaties are easy - plenty of food and water and they are happy.

ETA - we finally got the fence completely across the front this after noon !!!

Whew - been a while since I wrote! :) It has finally stopped raining long enough for the driveway and where we park to dry out :weee We have brought 2 dump truck loads of dirt in and spread them, I wouldn't mind one more - 1/2 for the top of the septic/drainfield between run off and the dog :/ and 1/2 for where we park. My grapevines are starting to grow, my strawberries are starting to bloom and make little bitty baby strawberries :D And I have a broody hen - Spring is finally here :celebrate :celebrate

I am down to 1 guinea - not sure what is going on around here, may have to rethink leaving them freerange. I am looking for some guinea eggs to put under my broody hen - anybody have some they'd like to sell me?

And . . . my geese and ducks are supposed to ship on Monday :celebrate
