This isn't something I can add to every day, but a rainy Sat. afternoon seems like a good time to tell folks a little more about me. I'm going back a ways to start things off because I feel that the roots of my SS drive started in my grandparents garden and kitchen although I didn't think about it at the time.
335_4_generations.jpg

This is 4 generations of my family taken in 1995. Grandparents are on the left, ( sadly they are both gone now) parents in the middle ( dad has a hat on), brothers and sisters in the 2 back rows; nieces, nephews, and my kids in the front rows. Grandparents grew up in the depression era so they had chickens and always grew their own food and canned it. Parents grew up after WWll when it was just becoming possible to buy everything you need. They never felt the need to fend for themselves when they could just go to the store. I fell into the same trap myself until I rented my first house with a yard in the early 80's. I planted a small garden with a few tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and carrots. Just what I needed for a fresh summer salad.
I spent the rest of the 80's driving up and down the east coast following the Grateful Dead. Oddly enough, I learned a lot, about living with a little, in those days. The 90's brought the children and the "adult" responsibility associated with it. It also brought the loss of my grandparents in 1999 and 2001. I spent a lot of time reminiscing about their little homestead and how I would like to live a little more like they did. I bought my business from my employer in 1998. this year also began the decline of my marriage. By 2001 we were finished. In 03 Becky came along, We got our little corner of the world and here we are today.

My neices are competitive swimmers too. They live breathe and eat swimming. :D
THAT'S A FACT !! Swimming takes over your life. Katelyn and three of her teammates went to jr. nationals in Fl. back in April. The tallest girl in the team photo went to olympic time trials but came up a little short. Katelyn has her sights on London in 2012. We'll do all we can to help her along.
