Vitamin D fortified milk has corn in it!

Even so, that's still a high number considering the population of dogs. I'm sure the number for intolerance is much higher. That's why I feed a large amount of raw. And that's a whole 'nother ball park of worries, considering the state of most supermarket chicken. Argh!
 
Maybe they'll find something besides corn since prices are going up due to ethanol demand. Glad I'm not allergic to corn. Don't drink milk anyway, so no problem there.
 
The price of the dry kibble is higher in a no-grain food, but they eat a bit less of it and your vet bills over the years...or lack thereof....will more than cover the cost of the food.

I do grumble at the price tag when I pick up that bag of Taste of the Wild, but they do eat less of that than they did the cheap junk. And less garbage in = less poop out!

DK, the less processed food you eat, the less of a problem the rising price of corn will be, but it is annoying that someone trying to avoid it is still getting corn because it is hidden. I do still drink milk and use cream in my coffee, but try to stick to raw milk when I can get it. Working on getting my own milk share so I don't have to bum off Abi's :D

Oh yeah, definentely. Just always have to clear up that allergies in dogs is a lot more rare that people think.

Jax has flea saliva allergies, one flea can send him itching like mad. Forget bees, that an E-Vet visit and a few days of steroids and anti-imflamatories.

Very true, but in my neck of the woods it is illegal to sell raw milk.

People cannot get it. I have my own cows and the government, the vets, and pretty much everyone else is on the " if you drink that! you're gonna die!!! kick.

I sit back and enjoy my milk, cream, butter and cheese, my grass fed beef, soy free chickens fried in ghee made from my own butter and my latest medical check says I am going to live forever.

ARG!! I just got back from the grocery store, and here's what I found: EVERY SINGLE ONE of the organic milks our store carries is Ultra-pasteurized except one, and it says VAT pasteurized. What's that mean?

This VAT milk is the only one not homogenized, as well, and it's whole milk. And it does not say "vitamin D added" like all the others. AND what is kinda funny, is that it's our store brand (Hy-Vee HealthMarket).

And here's the other thing: I think it was Wifezilla who said she uses cream to make yogurt, and that the Fage brand is made from cream. I looked at the one we have in the store, and it is made of skim milk. Not a stitch of cream in it. Is there a full fat versionof Fage out there? What should I use to make greek style yogurt, which is supposed to be super good for you b/c it's high protein? I'm all mixed up now!

The vat pasteurized is going to be your best bet. It means that it is heated at a lower and slower temp, so its not nearly as damaged.
You can use that milk to make yogurt as well.
Greek style is usually strained after it is made, to take off some of the whey as well.
 
OH!!!! So it's really just extra thick yogurt? Well shoot, I can do that. I guess I have found my new milk brand. Man-of-the-house actually mentioned this morning that he can tolerate non-homogenized milk better than homogenized. He is supposedly "allergic" to a bunch of stuff, like milk makes his nose all runny, too many eggs make him "loopy", no bananas, no walnuts, no raw carrots, etc. He takes FIVE medications a day, for blood pressure, cholesterol, and respiratory allergies. UGH. I'm trying to feed him better now that we are living together.

For what its worth, if he is willing, he can probably reverse all those issues.
