Wannabefree...guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!?!?

I caught ds ducks breeding already this year too. I'd like to find a turkey hen. Our gobbler is getting lonely. I found some on CL for $20 but they're nearly 60 miles away.

If you have a bator I could ship you a few eggs when mine start to lay, which I'm thinkin will be sooner than what I had originally thought :P No charge, I'll send them just for those kiddos to have a bit of fun ;)
 
Cool thanks! My incubators thermostat quit, but I plan on getting a new one sometime here pretty soon before incubating season gets started!
 
PM me your addy and stuff when you get set up and I'll get you some eggs sent out when I get them. I gotta get Buffy's first, btu then you all are welcome to some of them too. They are SO fun to hatch!! I love baby turks, and mine last year were very strong and all survived for me, even one who got caught out in the rain and almost drowned was pretty easily nursed back to health! It amazed me, because i have heard how delicate turks can be. Mine are Heritage Bronze's and very gentle. My Big Tom, I can walk out and pick him up any time, and he has never been aggressive. I love my turks, they're good birds!

How about roosting, were they difficult to get to stay in the coop? :pop
 
Are they the ones that look like the wild turkey? If I ever get my farm, that's the kind of turkey I want to raise.

They don't really stay in the coop/ They prefer to roost up on the gate instead. Even in sleet and snow, they'll have a cover of ice on their feathers and everything, but still sleep on the gate. They love it, and we have had no issues with frostbite, so I continue to let them. We never trained them to go in at night. The guy we got them from didn't either. They are the most gentle birds we have out there besides the Dels. The turks will eat out of your hand, and jump up to get treats and not peck your fingers. They're great! I wouldn't be without them!
 
hes also a big ole showoff, eveverytime ive seen him hes got himself all puffued up and his tail fanned lol. hes a beaut!

yes they look almost exactly like the Eastern Wilds.
 
What would be awesome for me (but wont happen) is if we cant raise em at school, then raise them under a broody in a pet carrier in the coop. But that wont happen because I dont get broody hens :rolleyes:
