Woohoo on the sprouting! YAY! Now.. how'dja do it? I'm fixin to get mine started today and I'm absolutely confused. Never done this before :/
Here is how I did it.
First I planted the seeds in trays obviously. I used seedling mix I purchased(I know lame, but I didn't wanna mess it up!!).
Then I covered them, and put the trays in a DARK place until they sprouted.
When about half had sprouted I propped open the cover, and left them in the dark for a few more days until most had sprouted.
I then put them under a regular long fluorescent bulb.
The key is to keep them 4 inches or less from the light source! That keeps the seedlings from getting long and spindly and dampening off!! I never knew that before

Mine always flopped over several days after coming up. They wouldn't quit growing UP and eventually would fall over and rot right at the soil line. also, keep the trays MOIST not wet!
Now, I have a LOT of tomatoes, peppers, and eggplant at 18 days. Usually at 18 days I had a bunch of crusty dried up remnants of tomatoes and peppers
These are doing GREAT though! I'm gonna shut up now before something bad happens to them. But, that's how I did it
