Hi all!

I found one of these old large clay baking pots with a lid at a flea market for a couple of dollars. I tried roasting a chicken in it, and it did come out nice and tender and juicy, though with a faint clay scent.

I've heard they are good for baking breads too? I've been experimenting some with breads lately (and I GOTTA get a sourdough starter going -- I so miss fresh sourdough bread!) but mostly I use a baking stone or iron skillet for that.

Anyone ever use one? I figured if I don't like it for cooking, I can always make two planters or a very cool container out of it.

Thanks!!!

I use mine for baking whole chickens. I also make pot roast with potatoes and carrots. The meat is always moist.
I have also baked cakes and cobbles in just 1 half. The come out perfect.
