Had a good conversation with a peer yesterday at the volunteer gig. He's in general construction contracting and we talked about raised beds. He just finished up building some for his MIL. Assured me my plan of attack was sound. He liked my idea for the PVC netting cage to protect the beds.
He used warped lumber (discounted from the big box place), so something to consider
Got some seed packs filled with potting mix. NOW I'm on hold, waiting for it to soak up the water !!Guess seeds will get in them tomorrow. So annoying. Normally don't use this stuff.
We might have 3 days dry by next Saturday. If we don't have torrential rain before dry days, i might be able to till some of the garden. Just the back by the silkie pens and only what my lungs let me. Some is better than none and peas grow fine in the outside of that. I can plant those with the temps and the spot doesn't flood
After chores I'll CK status of the potting mess. If that stuff is still floating, I'll dump it, mix in good dirt and put back into the trays. what a mess that sounds like.
Hmmm...most water soaked up. But what wasn't became icy overnight -- It was 30 for over 8 hrs. So I lifted the sections and laid the thin icy pieces on top of soil and moved truck to sunshine on bed. Thinking after lunch thinks will be thawed.
I'm sure having to work a lot for these darned plants!!
My friend gave me the metal street sign posts last night. 4' long, 2"×2". Got eight, can get more if I want. These are heavy and durable. Will be good for Bambi protection
