This week of almost spring weather is just calling me to start plants

It's so tempting! I may actually throw a few seeds in a few starter pots and hope for the best.

Yep! Lotsa times I used to get a lot of my spring garden planted in early/mid March while I was off for spring break.

We cant even enter the Garden of Eat'n until the snow melts. We should be in there by end of April.

my garden is inside at the moment and consists of two amaryllis bulbs (that are dormant), but now that i've repotted them and put some water on them they'll start breaking dormancy and growing in a few weeks to a month and eventually they may even bloom. i already have plenty of pictures from growing these and there will not be any surprises this year either unless they don't bloom at all (may be a chance of that as they needed to be repotted last year and weren't) so we'll see what happens.

i've got 9-10 bulbs to give away as i don't need that many plants (no room for all of them once again). i've got a friend who can distribute them for me. thank goodness... one of the bulbs i'm giving away is about five inches across. most of the rest are 3 or so inches across and then there are a few pups that are just getting going.

So, the deer have been non-existent the past few weeks, really since December, lots of roadkill about 2 miles away and saw only a single set of tracks about 1/2 mile down the road today. Seriously considering planting some cukes and melons without netting in the spring.

Has anyone here grown cucamelons? I think I would like to pickle some. My fear is they would be bite size snacks for whatever deer show up.
