What did you do in your garden today?

Stuck some moschata seeds by the herbs (licorice, marshmallow, lemon balm, catnip, oregano) to see if that keeps the borers away. Planted more melons, including watermelons. Got cucumbers in the ground.

I need to decide where to plant the sweet potatoes. I primarily use them as a soil conditioner, I only harvest enough to replant the following year.

I also need to decide on a spot for winter squash. It's primarily for the chickens. I'm wondering if I should forego the corn and green beans just to grow the chicken feed. I could also put it on the edges or along the woodchip mounds.

in looking at the weather forecast for the upcoming week i saw that the heat is coming along with chances of rain most days so i got out and mowed while i could.

glad i got that done as mowing when it is 80-90F would probably put me under.

as this was my 2nd outing i made myself get the whole thing done without taking any break (last time i took a break and i also stopped half way and finished the rest of it the 2nd day). i had to lecture myself the last half hour as i was tired and wanting to stop but i just kept telling myself to get it done, be careful and do it right.

so tomorrow i can do somethings else. :) maybe plant some peas or weeding or both. :) :) :)

Got the last raised bed topped off and planted the whole thing in collards. We do love our collards! I need more room though. I can extend a couple of beds by about 4 feet...eventually. Maybe by fall. I'm losing one of the fence lines because of the pigs. They'd scarf up anything that I tried to grow on the common fence between them and the garden area. Oh well, they won't be there forever. The Seminole Pumpkins are peeking through. I'm excited about them.

Found a sweet red pepper sprout and some of the Swiss Chard. Found another corn sprout too. Got the small metal and pallet beds moved. I'm going to plant the eucalyptus seeds in the pallet bed.

A couple of my tomatoes are blooming and one has a fruit on it. This weird weather we've been having is actually perfect tomato weather.
