It's kinda like cheese for me -- enough for winter already stored. But my factory is still producing 😁 You do get your fill tho. I'll make a couple batches of hard cheese next week, while home.

Satisfaction and thankfulness for the bounty we're provided 🙏

I just mowed in the orchard. Our golden delicious apples have started to develop brown spots, so I need to pick them and do something with what is still good. I asked FB to make me two pie crusts, so it's looking like i'll be baking another apple pie.

These brown spots, I thought were brown rot last year. But now I'm questioning my inital diagnosis, or the fungicide I sprayed to contol brown rot, isn't as effective on apples as I thought it should be...

summer apple rots is something i'll need to study more closer over winter and work on next season, it's to late now. I'll also get this under control eventually, like I did with our peaches 🙃.

That is a shame as the skin taste good & contains good things for you. But they're gonna be good anyway. So you have time to research other treatments 😊 still some nice fruit there!

by the time they're cooked you won't notice, i like apple pie filling rather tart with lemon juice so that also would help make sure that if there's anything going on there that it likely won't survive being cooked an in an acidic environment...

Back after this apple pie making business. It went better this time but I need more practice. Expecually rolling crusts... I don't understand why my crusts turn out to be heart shaped.

Golden delicious apples skinned and cored, bad spots removed, starting to simmer in 2 TBS butter. I did about 20 minute simmer with the lid on.

Honey, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg mixed well.

Combine in pot and gently stir in, simmer for another 10 or so minutes.

Roll out FB's crust she made me last night and stored in the refrigerator.

Add filling to bottom pie crust.

Add top pie crust, trim, roll edges and twist pinch. Add slits and bake for about 45 minutes at 350F or until FB's crust is done.

You do know that there is no need to precook apples for a pie?
