At that age not much helps. I had the wildest of them in a small pen so they were easy enough to catch. However, these guys were all in that 30ish pound weight range and soooo much stronger than you can imagine. Plus, I didn't disbud any of them and they already know how to swing their heads for maximum impact, lol. Even the tamest ones will flip out the first couple times they are restrained like that. In their little mind it's a game of survival. They were all hooves, horns and voices, lol!

snuggle bribes, slowing down, not letting the herd see what is happening to the chosen one of the moment, just thinking about the issues/process and how to maybe make it easier. not sure it makes any sense to you, but i'm here for ya. ooh, ok, wearing some old hockey equipment? good job goalie! haha! :)

Well a few months ago DH bought a new buck and put him in with the two does. He thinks they are both expecting. One will be her first time and the other will only be her first with us. I’m told she didn’t do well last time.
How exciting! Hope they both deliver beautiful, healthy babies!

Up and at 'em this morning. Hope to get outside and do some box burning before the wind picks up. But if I don't get moving it won't happen again today.

Started thinking gardening. I'm slowly cleaning out some of the raised beds. I have pea seeds that are begging to be in the dirt. Picked up some onion sets too...don't even care if it's the right time to plant, lol. They're going in the dirt too!

Pulled the last of the rainbow carrots yesterday. Decent haul. I've been harvesting a few here and there for quite a while now. So sweet and delicious!

Still pushing DH to get more movement and activity. Slow but steady improvement. Need to work in some strength training too. He's going to get in shape whether he likes it or not, lol! Thank goodness he's a good sport about it and wants to get better - finally!

Way too early to be out of bed. Awake at 3:30ish and up by 4. Absolutely insane! I have a lot to do so I really should take advantage of the extra time in my day. Of course, by this afternoon that extra time might be devoted to a nap.

Got practically no farm work done yesterday. I had new tires put on my truck last month. Noticed a warning light on shortly after that. The ABS light and the traction control light are both on. Might have been on since I got the tires - I dunno. Truck is running/driving perfectly so I wasn't too worried. Went yesterday to get a front end alignment because after the new tiers I noticed a slight pull to the left. Talked to the technician about the warning light and he tried to reset it but the light came back on. He checked the codes and 4 codes came up. Two indicated a problem with the power steering module thingy and one with the ABS stuff and another that was just "invalid data" from the instrument panel. HuH? Again, other than the lights - no symptoms at all. Truck is 13 years old, has about 85K miles, and looks/drives like new. I love my truck! I've been considering putting it in the shop and having an old age check up done for things like belts, filters and hoses. I know if I do that, they WILL find plenty of things to replace, lol. But - that's kind of the point, isn't it? I don't mind spending some $$ to keep it in good shape - much cheaper than a new one for sure! I'll talk to my son (die hard GM man and my truck is a RAM) and see if he has some words of wisdom. I'm sure the first words out of his mouth will be "burn it!" LOL

Sold some silkie hatching eggs the other day. Might turn into a nice little side income. It'll never make me rich, but if they can pay for their own feed that's a plus.

Need to do some mowing. In February. Ugh. Things are greening up. Mulberry tree is covered with blooms. Hope it's a good year - I love mulberries!
