What did you do in your orchard today?

Occasionally, early takers show up. I no longer try to understand why, I just receive it. Late blooming cold hardy plums are all the rage around here nowadays 😆

I might need to weigh down my boots so I don't blow away - the winds are crazy today! 👀 But the peach trees are exiting their fruit drop/pit hardening phase, and it seems the wind is just helping shed the fruitlets that didn't form pits. Yet another reminder to observe, appreciate, and refrain from complaining! Things are not always as they seem. After sampling a couple early ripened cherries, I decided to come inside and get out of the wind. Wind is gonna do what wind does anyway.

Figs are ready to leave the barn tack room for some outdoor pampering. While moving those heavy pots in an 8-foot room is a bit of a challenge, I plan to put them on pallets and use the tractor to manage them outside this year. I'm currently trying to figuring out the best long-term solution, as I believe they really need to be planted in the ground for next winter but they need protection from prolonged hard freezes. IDK... perhaps they will bear a few figs to eat and that will motive me even more? Hard for me ro believe the were just 4 to 6 inch plugs a year and 1/2 ago. They grow crazy fast.
