What did you do to save $ today?

Wasn't today that I saved money - yet. But last week we changed security monitoring systems...we're paying basically the same rate that we were paying but now we are wireless - which allowed me to cancel my land line that I've been paying $50 a month for. Also dropped our lousy internet provider and are going with hotspots on our phones. It's about the same price -but at least I have service now that is reliable and doesn't go out everytime we have a thunderstorm.

New Year's Day I went into the local Food Lion and they had three grocery carts of Christmas baking supplies and other stuff labeled free! I took "my share" even though it was hard not to just wheel the buggies out to my car and dump everything in the trunk. I got Christmas Funfetti cake mixes and icing for my granddaughter, chocolate/mint chips, candy canes and other candy as well as 4 toys that I put in the box for next years Toys-for-tots drive.

I have also been making most of our bread. I use my 25 year old bread machine but it still works like it did when it was brand new. I bought 12 bags of bread flour before Christmas bogo!

I wanted a little table or endtable to put next to my side of the bed and turn it into a charging station for my phone and laptop, also for catchall for things I put under my pillow to keep them close by. Instead, I used some fabric scrap and made a pocket organizer that hangs from between the mattresses. It has pockets for my laptop, phone, pencils/pens/thermometer, sleep mask/hair things/bookmarks, and a book. $0 Score!!

We got a loan from the bank to cover our credit card debt and build our credit! It is going to save us a ton in interest alone and with a lower consolidated payment we'll be able to pay it off faster, saving even more in interest!
I'm so relieved to be able to move forward!

Checked around the farm for broken fence posts. There are enough there that are long enough for me to use to make my round pen. Those, along w/the rope I already bought and the snaps I need to buy means that I'll be able to make a 60 ft RP for just under $24.00!

I needed a bigger waterer for the ducklings I am raising for freezer camp. At TSC, a 5 gallon waterer was $35 DOLLARS! And it was plastic, so how long would that last. DH would have bought it for me, but I just couldn't do it. Instead we bought a small rubber tub for $11 and went to the doughnut shop and bought a bucket with lid for $1. I drilled a couple of holes in the bucket, put it in the tub, filled with water and clapped the lid on it. TA-DA!!

And I made a feeder with a plastic milk jug. I washed out the jug real good and cut two holes in the side about half way up. It was free, took very little work on my part and holds a half gallon of feed. I got another milk jug about empty......

I finished my wood gasifier. This now means I can generate electricity with wood, run a log splitter and make useful hydraulic gadgets to increase production. My next project is to make a gasifier to run my truck.
