We got some heritage breeds to use for meat birds and needless to say, its taking them FOREVER to get to a good butcher weight. And then I read about people processing their creepy meats in 6 weeks. So we're wanting to try a different breed next time to make this more $$ worth it for us.

So...what's your favorite creepy meat?

I DO have a favorite. I am very pleased with the Cornish Cross birds I get from Welp's hatchery. Yes they are "Frankenbirds" or "creepy meats" but I am pleased with the results when I free range (they are in a pen) them.

So I just googled "creepy meats" just to see what came up. The first 4 results are from OFG's blog, and then there's one from Javamama from this site!!!!!! So 5 out of 10 search results are SS'ers!

And thanks FF!

I actually thing OFG coined the term "creepy meats" and probably the term "Frankenbirds" as well! :gig That is why we love her!

You guys rock :D

Quite a few people on BYC are raising "freedom rangers". They do take a little long to grow out than the creepy meats if I understand correctly, but they are less creepy :D
