who has rain barrels?

SORRY! So true on me, I can be an accidental thread stealer! I really intend to "grow" my rain collection this winter and also VERY interested in hydro power - solar is great but hydro can rock way harder in Alaska - where we intend to "retire." So hoping this thread continues on rain collection, not poo collection!

Can you set up a rain barrel to a drip irrigation system or any type of automatic watering system? Would you need a pump or sometype of force to push the water out?
I used to have my vegetable garden on a timed drip irrigation system and it was REALLY convenient. I would love to do rain barrels but I know I would really miss the auto drip system!
Anyone do this and have pics?
