Lovin' The Homestead
Ours is kinda the opposite. I'm the gardener, and I'm a strict fan of removing useless plants and replacing them with useful ones. Wowzers, did I get the fizzer for taking out a precious shrub he didn't even pay attention to or give a sh!t about until he noticed it was missing. 
I didn't say much other than to give him a "screw you and the horse you rode in on" look, but I do not regret removing it. He did (and still does) very little to take care of the surrounds of this house. There were only changes when I finally moved in and started working to make the house look lived in.
Now I just say (repeatedly, for a while) that I have plans for whatever area around the house, and convince him in the end that it would be better off with something else. It takes a while, but I get through eventually.

I dare not plant anything out in the yard. It all has to be placed so he can mow without turning around or backing up. So I made beds in front of the house and beside the house with boundries so he can just mow right up to them and around. I actually did him a favor because we have a cellar door that sticks out from the house and my beds are on either side all the way to the end of the door so he just makes a wide swoop and it's mowed. Like my technical terms?

You can get bacterial pink eye from soil or animals. I got it once from garden soil. i just rubbed Neosporin in my eye before bed and it cleared right up. It doesnt burn, just makes it hard to see. Thats why i do it before bed.

Low-Carb Queen - RIP: 1963-2021
Ok, I don't think it is pinkeye. More like a sinus infection creating pressure on the eye plus allergies. I got some saline solution with boric acid in it. The eye looks much better, but I can feel pressure in the sinus and behind the eye. Summer crud.
Zeus is hiding from me after 2 eye wash sessions for his pink eye. BUT...he does look better.
I almost fried my laptop. I had it outside so I could watch Bones during my vitamin D therapy session (aka laying out in the sun). I noticed a garden bed was looking crunchy so grabbed the hose. As I was spraying it I tripped and the laptop got short blast. I quickly ripped out the battery and then left the laptop outside to dry. Other than a weird spot on the left corner of the display, it is working fine. PPPWWEEWWW!!!
Got a few more areas planted, but I still have 3 beds with no plants in it. It's not that I didn't plant, it is because my duck Shelley kept busting out of the pen and eating everything. Note to self: Buy more deer netting...or in my case, duck netting I guess I will plant some quick growing greens in it. That will give me time to build a fortress around it.
Posted a few of my critters for sale on BYC. I am going to put them on craigslist, but I figured I would give the BYC people a crack at em first. A trio of white coturnix and 2 of the ducks. My drake Token and Wendy, a gold hen. Wendy is still laying consistently but she is getting older. Plus I want to breed more for silvers AND I don't like her eggs. They taste fine, but they have a grungy bloom. 2 of my girls (Lexi and her daughter Prairie Dawn) lay big white BOMBS! LOL They are very white, and very huge. Wendy lays torpedos. Tall and narrow, offwhite and waxy looking. Perfectly delicious, but not as marketable sitting in a carton on a sales table.
As for Token, he is a nice drake, but I need new blood. If I sell the birds I can put in an order from Sandhill. Since all my other ducks are from Metzer or Holderreads, I will get genetic diversity.
