'Tis the season... well maybe not yet but we've had enough hot days that it FEELS like it, anyway.

I am bored with my existing coleslaw repertoire, and would welcome new ideas.

So whatcha got? :)

Thanks,

Pat

Ldy, I am not making a citizens arrest. You & your mother have the right to eat your weird sweet pineapple slaw as long as you promise to never bring me any. A friend's mother used to make a crunchy slaw with uncooked ramen noodles. It had pineapple in it too, and raisins. Weird... :p

In the food processor, add 1/2 medium cabbage (mix purple & green for really nice colors), handful baby carrots, couple of brocoli stems, 1/4 medium onion. Run until coarsely chopped. Add yogurt (I just glop a couple of spoonfuls on it), add basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, celery seed, garlic, salt, pepper and a splash of acv. Mix well. Chill at least a couple of hours. I have no idea on the measurements, I just toss it together until it tastes right.

Sometimes I will add sunflower seeds.

So pat, what's your normal slaw? :pop

Not a cole slaw but my new favorite!!!

Broccoli Salad

2 Bunches of fresh Broccoli uncooked, Chopped (I usually use 3 smaller dense heads)
1 lb bacon fried cooled and diced
2 medium white onions chopped
2 cups golden raisins

sauce
2 c mayo
1/4 c apple cider vinegar
1/2 c sugar

A couple things on this recipe. I think it originally called for 2 lb of bacon but my mil changed it. It really only need 1. Second I dice my onions really small and sometimes there seem to be a bit too much.

The recipe says to get everything ready make sauce on side and toss all together before serving. I actually prefer to toss and refrigerate to allow the flavors to meld.

Yummy!!!

Oh cool, this thread slipped my mind, I'm glad it got brought back up!

I do not think I am quite brave enough to try anything combining cabbage and marshmallows LOL, but the other recipes sound good and I will try them! Thanks! :)

I just found a recipe that uses broccoli stems instead of cabbage. Just cut the skin off and shred. Anyone try this yet?

Red or green cabbage or mixed grated
couple of grated carrots (optional)
Dried currents (they are smaller than rasins and don't have the startling sugar and flavor hit. More sublte. but if I'm in for a big rush I use dried cranberries, I usually chop them up smaller)
enough mayo to moisten
Stevia 7 to 10 drops ( you don't have the stevia aftertaste in this recipe)
Chopped walnuts
chill.

Gee, I am so simple.

Cabbage, carrots, tomatos, splash or two of lemon juice and mayo.
