I didn't know where to put this, so I'll put it here. :)

Tell me your thoughts on coffee and how good or bad it is for you. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I have been drinking it more lately. I usually add little milk, half and half, or cream (depending on what I have) and some sugar (sugar in the raw, or maple syrup).

I'm exercising and eating better (fewer sweets and more veggies) and I don't want coffee to hinder my weight loss, though I'm not adding *that* much sugar. Will a cup a day add that many calories? I mean, I could just drink water, which is what I mostly drink anyways, with some milk and sweet tea now and then. I could easily leave out the coffee though.

A small amount of coffee (1-2 cups) per day is no biggie. They have been trying to prove it is unhealthy for decades with no success.

I would be more worried about the sweat tea.

Good deal. Yeah, I don't drink much of it. Maybe a glass a week at most. :D

I agree with WZ - When I was exercising (seems like decades ago :hit ) I still drank a cup of coffee each morning and it never hindered my weight loss. I even tried stopping the AM Java and nothing changed.

They say an apple instead of coffee will give you just as much kick and will last longer than a cup of joe, but on a nice warm morning nothing suits my fance like a good ol cup of iced coffee....

I don't even notice the caffiene..just doesn't affect me unless I drink a TON of coffee. I just like the taste and it's warm. :p

I agree. I did a complete overhaul of my diet and while I did cut back on my coffee.....I was up to 4 cups. I am happy with my 2 cups per day.

Also a tsp of sugar is only 35 calories :) the heavy cream I use has more calories but it also has good fat.

I have given it up before to see if I had any changes and nope, no extra sleep was gained, no weight was lost, no improvement in my autoimmune issue. And I missed it. The routine, the taste, the smell. I'm not loading it with calories and at 2 or 3 cups a day I am back to it. Don't even suggest tea to me :sick Tea tastes bad in any of it's flavors to me. So does cilantro and beets.

Caffiene, in moderation, can help with weight loss. The problem is not the calories....but that sugar, in any form, will trigger your body to hang onto the calories and store them as fat, rather than escort them into working muscles to burn them off. So increase the cream (check your half&half label, many have lots of crap in them, heavy cream is best) and decrease the sugar as much as you can, decrease it a tiny bit at a time in your coffee so you get used to it. If you basically eliminate sugar, add lots of low-starch veggies (stabilizes blood sugar), and reduce/eliminate processed foods (especially white flour and sugar) the weight will melt off.
