What are your kids doing today?

I do not miss the potty training days…

That's awesome with the potty training @tortoise ! Ugh potty training, not really happening with my DS2 yet:(. He likes talking about it, and when I ask if he wants to go sit down on the potty he says "no tank you". I need to take some time and focus on it, but I don't want it to be stressful for either of us.
I'm sort of glad there's no ipad in our house. DS2 gets a little netflix if I'm making dinner or the other odd occasion, but we've actually done really well with low screen time. Of course there are those days when I use the tv for some serious relief.:th

As for today we skipped out on farm work and went into the city for an arts/music festival in the park this afternoon. Tons of kids, good vibes, it was nice to get out. Though DS2 was a little overwhelmed by all the people, so he wasn't dancing up a storm as per his usual self :)

That sounds fun! My daughter has always been overwhelmed by crowds too (hmm... Like both of her parents!)

My daughter received a tablet as a gift recently, we weren't happy about it... But she uses it maybe once a week for mostly educational purposes. I worked in a public school... Amazing how much screen time kids get, that includes a lot of time while in school!

@treerooted, forward progress on potty training is a welcome relief! He has been interested and potty-ready for almost a year. Was nearly there over winter but wearing footie jammies in our cold house slowed that down and then my illness flared up and I just couldn't. Feels like we've been at it f.o.r.e.v.e.r. At least yours says "no thank you"! Mine says "no!" In the most adorable way, but still. Uggh.

I have mixed feeling about screens. He's intense, except in novel situations or when learning. He adores flashcards and books, but I can only sit with him for *so* much time in a day.

Absolutely, you do what you can!

Before my little one was a year old we were using the potty when got up from naps so he had no problem with it...then things got crazy with the move and he was not interested in trying the potty once I got it back out in our new place. But I know that sort of thing is typical. I have a feeling this will be a forever process for us too!

Ya, we're not big crowd people either, but I think it's good experience to get out into those situations every once in awhile. While I love living in the country I do worry sometimes that he's isolated a bit; especially with no siblings right now.

Yes, I've heard so many schools are using tablets these days! I'm not sure if our local school has them but I'd have to assume so.

My little man turned 11 yesterday. I cannot believe how fast the years went. He's getting crazy tall now, he's up to my face already and I am not that short. I said to a friend yesterday he got my dad's genes, his whole family were over 6 foot and big people.

Eeeek! I have another birthday buddy! My birthday was yesterday also! Happy birthday to your [big] baby boy @sumi !

Hubby and I took the kids to a big zoo yesterday. DS10 rode a camel! DS2 loved to watch a tank of big ocean fish.
