Football already huh? I'm out of the loop! I think Brady might be close to retiring so maybe I should pay attention, we might be sunk soon lol. I'll enjoy winning while I can!

Hmm well it will be interesting to see if you have surprise babies! Darn goats! I'm very fortunate that Clifford is quite easy to contain. Don't need any escape bucks thank you!

It's just pre-season - but it's still football lol. I tend to be a fair weather fan, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we can keep our team healthy and actually do something this year.

This fence jumping goliath I have around here makes me think maybe I should think about keeping my bucks small and my gal's big! Never had this problem with a pygmy buck - nope - no problem keeping them contained at all. They had everything going against them....itty bitty short legs and big ol' fat bodies. They couldn't jump a shadow on the ground, lol!

Lol! I don't think Clifford knows he can jump. I'm good with that! Pygmy bucks make little meaty babies too, not a terrible idea. Do you still have your Nigerian buck too?

That's a good thing! May he never learn, lol.

Not even sure where I'm gonna start today. need to get my lazy butt outside and feed this morning. Need to find a good time to mow. Too damp this time of morning and a chance of rain this afternoon. Gotta find a window of time in there somewhere. Ehhhh - gonna have another cup of coffee and ponder things for a bit.

Geeze louise - do these things only happen at MY house or what? When I went out this morning, a little later than normal, I saw Cameo standing up with her feet on one of the stock panels and her head stuck through trying to get to who knows what on the other side. As I got closer it became apparent that she was stuck...GRRRRR! And, by the pile of poop under her it was clear that she'd been there awhile. Only one of my goats would be that dumb....like she's really sweet and pretty....but kinda like a dumb blonde, lol.

Finally got her head unstuck and she dropped down with all four feet on the ground and it wasn't good. Not sure if her front legs had compromised circulation from being raised up so long, and her back legs were really tired from her standing on them so long....but she wasn't ok. She staggered around and tried to pee....she couldn't even squat - just stood there with it running out. She staggered a little bit more and then went and laid down. She did start chewing cud so I took that as a good sign. Let her lay there and rest for awhile then went back to check on her. She got up when I brought feed and her appetite is good - but geeze louise! I guess eventually her legs would have given out and she'da hung herself. Poor darlin'! She's still gimpy on one back leg. Gonna check on her again in just a bit and if she's not 100% or close to it I'll consider giving her some Banamine.

I got some beans canned up this morning. Also got about 1/2 of the mowing done. - so far. I need to get it finished before any of those scattered showers out there head my way. Thankfully, we've not gotten excess rain out of any of the storms we've gotten. Just a random shower here and there almost every afternoon. Ground is nice and moist - but not soggy and plenty dry enough to mow.

Wait she's a nubian right? These things usually happen with nubians. Their ears are much more prominent than their brains! Lol glad she's OK though, that's scary!

You got THAT right, lol! She's up and moving around occasionally, eating well and chewing cud, but she's definitely stiff. Wonder if she can get on the milk stand tonight? Guess we'll find out in a few hours....

I think I'll can another batch of beans. I like having those on hand.

Finished the mowing before the thunder started....it boomed and boomed and didn't rain a drop. Canning up another batch of beans. That'll make 16 pints altogether - should hold us for a little while. I want a nap. I seem to get ridiculously sleepy between 4p and 5p. I want to go crawl in bed lol. But, my beans are still in the canner so I can't abandon them just yet. Another 15 minutes or so and they'll be done and I can go start my evening chores. Yay...so much for my day off, lol.

It rained above us, it stormed below us. We got a spit and a drizzle. We need rain so bad!

I got you on the whoops breeding. On the last lambing, I decided not to castrate the ram lambs. I thought I had until 3-4 months to get them out and weaned...….that's what I get for thinking. They can breed at TWO months old. The ewes were in great condition because I had clover 4 feet tall, so they got flushed real good. I think lambs will start showing up next month, who's yer DADDY?
