What are you planting in your garden this year?

This is the first year that I have gotten to order seeds, and begin to plan my garden out in a long time. So, I am getting excited. The weather has been limiting already with all the rain since September. I need my ground turned, and manure spread. However, we haven't had any dry weather since last June. That is not even an exaggeration.

So far, I am planting (if I can space it and plan it right):

We've had the same kind of year...no way I could get into my main garden area unless we have sunshine for at least a month... May or may not plant a couple of raised beds and/or tubs. Probably some tomato plants at the very least.

We've had the same rains, BB...complete mush around here. But, fortunately, I'm doing no tillage, so I can plant any time, no matter the weather. My problem is getting some round bales TO the garden to replenish my hay mulch...pure mud bog out there in the yard.

Doing mostly greens, lettuces and such this year and toning down the maters, taters, and squash...most of my family are doing low carb eating this spring so I'm trying to plant what folks will eat.

Will still do plenty of peppers~mostly hot but some sweet, green onions, several different kinds of lettuce and other greens, a dab of spuds, a row or two of tomatoes~usually do Brandywine, Yellow Stripey and this year I may add a few Jetstars. I'll plant a few squash and cukes in the flower beds in front of the cabin this year, as I had a gojillion squash bugs in my garden last year...they will be back. I know they will eventually find the squash and cukes but I sure don't want to make it easy on them.

Planting more asparagus...I have some already but not near enough. Rhubarb needs replanted...hope to beg some off my sister. Raspberries I got from @Lazy Gardener are spreading nicely and I hope they continue. Green beans~half runners for eating and Fortex for planting on the fenceline to sacrifice to Jap Beetles. A dab of sugar snap peas. Will continue to grow some garlic that I also got from @Lazy Gardener. Hope the strawberries come back okay...if not I may plant more.

Flowers...more flowers. Zinnia, sunflowers, calendula, honeysuckle, some wildflowers and maybe a few more herbs and perennials.

I hope to borrow a strip of ground at my son's place in town to plant some sweet onions, as his soil grows them just fine but mine does not.

I most likely forgot something but that's most of it.

I will have a new 20x60 garden spot this year. The silkie pens are being moved.

I'm still deciding on what typed of squash. Definitely Black Beauty zucchini as I like it, probably because it's what we always had growing up.

I need to pick a pumpkin or two, as well as a fast growing corn.

Large fowl are also getting moved into a new pen. That pen will become a dog run. I'll block a portion of it and plant peas where the deer won't eat them.

I have lots of planning to do.

I am planning...… So far I have a flat (65 peat pellets) of Lacinato kale, a flat of purple cauliflower (about half came up-old seed) a flat of broccoli, some red lettuce, green lettuce, baby pak choy and 4 yellow collards came up. I have a full flat of cabbage, a flat of Cherokee Purple tomatoes, a flat of German Johnson tomatoes, a half flat of Ping Tung eggplant (the other half was Rosa Bianca eggplant and it didn't come up-old seed). I have a flat of Painted Mountain corn-my seed, it gets 4' high and I have a flat of PM corn, seed from a friend in Idaho-hers gets 7' tall. I'm going to plant alternating rows and cross pollinate for seed next year. The Painted Mountain is for cornmeal, it makes a delicious bluish color cornbread.

I have green onions already in the garden and 3 rows of English peas. I also want to plant beets, more lettuce, turnip greens, purple hull peas, Zucchini, and whatever else I can get planted. I have LOTS of seed, trying to use it up. I'm going to plant everything I can squeeze in the garden.

This looks more like what I originally typed. My students are building me some more raised beds next week. I have also been stocking up on straw and mulch material each pay period. It's been so wet I haven't been able to get the garden burned off or turned well. So, I still need manure. It has literally rained since July 2018. No joke.

Praying that the weather will calm down and we can get some gardening done this year.

I don't even remember what I have for seeds. I buy tomato plante from a friends mom who is like the queen of starting tomatoes (and I'm awful at it), she always has heirloom plants so I'll get whatever she has that looks good. Definitely watermelon, butternut squash pumpkins and bush beans and the rest... I don't remember... I'll go look and update

I'm like so many, tooo many, others -- just hoping we get enough dry to be able to plant and not have them drown - Like last yr !

Loaded with seeds -- you name it and I probably have it Lots of seed for growing animal feeds. Just need it to dry enough to be able to rough up some areas of pastures to plant! Plus, lots of pumpkins, turnips, etc. for feed, this doesn't include a closer to house "kitchen garden". I'm bummed that the weather just isn't co-operating. Yeah, loaded with kitchen garden seeds, too.

And I have most all of my canning stuff READY to do this. I want to eat all year from these seeds!
