I have no idea who wouldn't like pecan pie. Some strange people around here, who don't know what good, I guess.

CC, I'm 53 now and I had never tried pecan pie until last year...and found it to be kind of sweet but the pecans cut the sweetness. I found I loved it and wondered why I had never tried it all these years of church socials and family reunions.

I'd rather have it over apple pie....unless the apple pie is like my mama used to make and with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream. :D

I'm sitting here on the front porch listening to the crickets and treefrogs croaking, enjoying a nice cold glass of super light bodied homemade cranberry wine. I'm wondering to myself, what's all the strife in the united states about anyways. I can bet you dollars to doughnuts, a nice warm slice of Amish made pecan pie and a glass of cold cranberry wine enjoyed on my front porch on a cool summer evening, could solve a lot of the world's problems :) heck my wife even has 10 seats for people to come sit and enjoy. But what a awesome way to unwind, after a stressful day of working for the man.

Too bad the front porch as gone away in America. That sounds amazing - but I want cherry pie and lemonaide.

Heck, I have a beautiful, screened in front porch and I never use it, except for storage, lol. I had talked my husband into buying a nice little iron table and chairs for on the porch, then he decided that we needed to move the futon out of the study and the only place for it was the 3-season porch. The table and chairs went out to the barn. Then, the spare table from study moved out to the porch. Then the 4 chairs from the camper, that we HAD to bring in for a holiday got moved out there. The Christmas tree stand, which is screwed down to a 3'x3' piece of plywood is sitting out there, ... It is never ending. Someday, soon I hope, I will claim it.

I love pecan pie. Somehow, it seems sinful to wrap all that delightful flavor up in so much sugar. But... it is what it is. I'll take mine lightly heated, and smothered with whipped cream.

Took a load of sawmill slabs over to my Amish friends so the could burn it for firewood.

I walked in the house with this cherry pie. My wife saw me and said what you got there? I said noneya!

They recently got what he calls a bakers oven. Its looks more like a stack of 4 pizza ovens that are stainless steel but rock on the inside with a large stainless steel wood box on the bottom.

They have it outside which is pretty cool for summer baking but he said the will move it inside during winter to help heat the house when fall comes.

I would have taken a picture of it but taking pictures of Amish or their possessions is like a big no no... Kind of the exact opposite of of us, with our family pictures and pictures of belongings for insurance purposes.

Edit...

Searching google their bakers oven kind of looks like this but with 4 ovens stacked on top of each other instead of one and stainless steel.

My wife went to go see her Amish friend and she sent 6 of these home for me :)
I don't know what it's called but it "was" delicious. It was like some kind of fist sized slightly smokey chocolate cake with chocolate goats milk cream filling :drool. Can't say I every had one before until now. I guess I missed out all my life.
