We sell meat to others. It has been people that we know, this time we are having these USDA slaughtered so I can advertise the meat for sale. We'll see how that goes!

I'd like to see lamb go more mainstream, like beef, pork and chicken, with it being offered in stores and restaurants. Around these parts, that's not happening. Most people reach adulthood and death, never having tasted lamb, in my neck of the woods.

But then, one must be careful what they wish for....I'd hate to see commercial sheep operations spring up, with sheep being produced in big buildings and never seeing the light of day.

My inlaws visited New Zealand for their honeymoon; the best part of the visit was that, in NZ the cheapest food on the menu in most restaurants was lamb and mutton (kinda like chicken is in America). They pigged out every night they were there (or should I say lambed out?)

It's in most grocery stores here, mostly chops &/or shoulder steaks. Legs can be found but, not as plentiful -- except holidays. It is normally imported meat....expensive at $12-14 a # for lamb chops but so, good!! I had lamb chops last week -- compliments of 50% off in the short date area. It was a splurge. Makes you want to raise a lamb or two. :D Was excellent, BTW.

You rarely find goat meat here but in Northern VA you find it more....up around the DC area. Goat cheese is available in most stores locally. Of course, goat I raise, so plenty of the milk, cheese, etc. & occasionally meat. I will butcher more goat after I get the Boer going in 2020. I have people asking about local meats -- who do not have land, etc. While you can cook lamb & goat in similar fashion, I find the goat a little more robust flavored meat. Not strong or bad flavored just like you would judge veal/beef intensity.

I am allergic to lamb and mutton, but I CAN eat goat, which tastes like venison to me. It's so expensive though... around here you'll pay $100 for a goat... I got some ground goat for $7 a pound

Around here I get 125-150 for a 6 month old, at auction. Goat cheeses are about $1 an ounce at stores. Rarely find a hard goat cheese to buy. My friends are thrilled when I gift them cheeses. LOL

Only one who relishes goat meat. He spent several years in Peru on missionary treks, so he & wife used to have it there. It makes his wife think of home. When I butcher more they will get some of it. Right now I've dried up the does as they will start kidding in a couple of months & I didn't want to milk this winter. Plenty frozen milk & cheese, so I'm good until Spring.

i've never heard of anyone being allergic to those! i like a good lamb stew once in a while and to me a gyros is just not right if there isn't some ground lamb in the mix. i've not had goat (that i know of :) )... i've always been ok to try things at least once. i've not been much of a venison eater unless it is turned into sausage with some pork/pork fat. i've always been one of those people who likes the dark meat off chickens and turkeys because i don't like the white meat as it is often just too dry and reminds me of eating sawdust. i don't know exactly how i ever did find out what sawdust tasted like...

lol, we eat a lot of strange things as babies and very young children. I knew a girl in school that knew for a fact that the communion wafers in church taste like goldfish food :\. My mom claimed to have found me happily chowing down on garden spiders once, though I don't remember it. Actually, since they are close relatives to lobster, I've often wondered......
