I need to put wire on the gate to mine. The chickens discovered they can jump to 3rd pipe & fit thru....otherwise I will have "fowl" play in the newly plowed dirt and any new tomatoes that turn color. Then -- chicken salad!! Don't want to go there.

Rain - rain - rain. All day, all week. :( Garden sits.

I planted some more Red Rippers - only this time I used seeds that I had saved from 2018 instead of using purchased seeds. Hoping I actually get red ones this time. I planted them around the corn (which is almost done) instead of building a trellis. I didn't plant them very thick because I'm afraid they'll over run the poor corn stalks, lol. My corn is kinda puny - but it tastes good!

I did some more chopping today. I have a lot more to do. At least 6 more bins of firethorn to chop up and remove. I chopped some of the back hedge too and am really liking how the bits I leave on the floor are sucking up the rain instead of it all flooding back to sand. The garden is greener each year :)

Always more marshmellow root to rip out, but much less than last year and big spaces without it. I threw out some more sunflower seeds so there are some good seeds to replace the weed seeds. Lots of different grasses coming up everywhere. I am not sure yet if any of that will last to summer.

My potted seedlings are doing well, I think they get too much sun which stunts them a bit so I am moving things around to see where they work best. Planted some endive seeds.

I got a kids paddle pool for the ducks and set it up over the spot I intend to put the peach tree in. They can swim and poop there until I get the orchard frame re-done and netted. It was more damaged in the storms than I realised.

At least my efforts are beginning to produce. :celebrate

The hard rains over night have beaten up on the little pepper plants but, rest is doing ok. No worse for the wear, so to speak. Found one hornworm on a tomato plant this am....RIP! Now, gotta watch for those things. :( Not even done planting....already they come!
