A new journey into homesteading "pic heavy"

No gas shortages but prices have gone up $.20 in the last week on regular. They did come and fill the fuel tanks at the farm and I have over 300 gal here at the house in the diesel tank that I don't have the furnace to use it..... Going to get it filled all the way up so that we have that 500 gal in reserve for the tractors....
On road Diesel at the pump is over 3.00 gal now.

Hey on the e-85.... don't run that in an older engine. You will cause it to get corrosion and it burns different than gas and can ruin the valves (???) ... or something like that. My DS told me.... He said, and I quote..... "Don't you dare use that crap in the older tractor engines".... and we ALWAYS add the fuel additive that has a lead substitute. The ethanol will cause corrosion and rust and does not do the lubrication that the lead used to. If the engine is over 25 years old, you need to be very careful or you will be doing an engine job. Use an additive every couple of tanks at least. I use Lucas sometimes, and Sea Foam sometimes....
in the tractors we use a lead substitute.... and the Farmall H is still running right along.

now we are having gas shortages at the pumps.
yep
Man you guys are getting raked over the coals... So sorry bro, I'll continue prayers for you all.

FYI... Just be prepared for mud city when it finally warms up. The mud is worse than snow for me and on the animals also.

We filled our diesel tank when prices started going back up. We have 400 gallons. Got another snow yesterday evening, another inch or two of snow. Have been out to feed wild birds, almost at the bottom of second 40 pound bag of birdseed. Have one more bag. Tossed hay to sheep and came back to house to be lazy and drink coffee. Of course bottle lambs were fed first thing. I’ll have to shimmy up extension ladder to clear snow off TV satellite dish. I do love my husband, TV is off. Dish on roof is facing wrong way to knock snow off easily, so have to crawl up ladder to reach it. No, I’m not stepping foot on the roof. I’m crazy but not stupid.

need some heat tape wrapped on the backside to just melt it off. put it on an extension cord to plug in when needed down below.

made it to work today. it was busier than anyone could have predicted. so many houses just ruined from major water damage. terrible.

natural gas company has been having problems keeping up and having gas pressure dips which is causing everything to go haywire as well.

good news is there seems to be no more rolling outrages here and it was 28 today so the roads are almost all thawed.

That might make sense if this was a yearly event. This is breaking records that have stood over 100 years. If it is another 100 years, I'll be dead by then.
