best dehydrator

Looking for any and all feedback please. I have been given the green light (thank you DH) to purchase a dehydrator!!! I have been asking for awhile but chickens and wood stove came first

I am looking for feedback on the best bang for your buck. Ones you have gotten that stunk and ones that have been a game-changer. I am looking to mostly dry fruits, veggies and herbs but wouldn't mind some jerky, though DH does most of that in the smoker.

Had a small circular American Harvest unit. It was fine, but the processing volume was way too small

Might I recommend a Harvest Right freeze dryer?

A cheap one? I have never paid more than $10. They pop up in auctions and thrift stores. If I was going to spend money on a dehydrator, I would be looking for a low temp or no heat option. If I had patience for the maintenance, I would get a Harvest Right. DH ordered one as a birthday present for me a few years ago but when we read the manual we cancelled the order. Yikes.

I haven't ever seen any in the thrift stores around here, but I haven't been venturing out too much lately. I will have to keep my eyes open bc that is a good place to look.

I never thought of Cabela's @FarmerJamie but that makes sense, meat = jerky

through the company or like with your credit card. we don't do credit cards...if we don't have the cash then we save til we do or we don't need it

Excaliber works very well for me , Either a 5 or 10 tray .
