Can seeds be dried in a dehydrator and still be viable? I think the heat goes down to 90° on my big one. It's hard to dry beans and squash normally here with our humidity

I would think so. My garden gets hotter than 90 every summer and I save seeds that sprout and grow.

I decided to go off script a little bit today. I decided I didn't have enough peppers so I direct sowed some in the garden. We'll see how that works... Seems like way back when I might've done that before...But I must've deleted part of that memory because I can't remember the results.

maybe you are far enough south that they'll be ok. up here there's not enough time for most of the peppers i'd eat.

We had peppers into December this past year from plants in pots on the south side of the house. Two of those plants are volunteering for another season. I thought they were goners - but nope - they're putting on new growth. We really can garden in some form or fashion almost year round. Outside year round - not green house year round. However, February is not really a garden friendly month.

Currently 41 but it feels colder than that to me. Chance of frozen mix in the morning, yikes . I brought the peppers inside. Crazy things are blooming already. That's what orange / red sunlight will do. I prefer to keep them in the blue spectrum as long as I can that way they don't bloom or bloom very little.

Anyways they are inside now so if it's gonna be freezing mix it'll be ok, I reckon. Cabbages and onions already set out should be ok also.

Cabbage is only $.89 a pound at the store right now. Usually it goes down to $.49 at the Asian grocery we frequent when its in season.
