woke up at 4:20am after going to bed early last night. i was tired. :) then after being awake for a bit i took a few minute nap and then went out to putter around.

first thing i checked out the end of the driveway after last night's rains to see if there were any puddles or spots to fill in and then did that and compacted them. i'm trying to make sure it is all well compacted and drains properly before i put down the top layer of larger gravel. i sure wish the contractor had done it right to begin with...

then i had four buckets of worms to restart and that wore me out as it is very humid today even if it isn't as hot as it was the previous few days. i always do enjoy seeing the little ecosystem i've set up working for them and figuring out how to restart the buckets and making sure all of them have the whole complement of creatures is fun too.

i took a break to cool off and then weeded around 4/5ths of the North Garden edge and hope i can get it finished tomorrow. it wasn't too bad as far as weeding goes but the midges, biting flies and the singular mosquito were not fun. oh well, i survived and when i got tired of that i came in to take another break. the purple flowers of the thyme are starting to show up so it's good for me to get it weeded before they reach full bloom stage.

The little garden cart is working well. Water is available across the parking lot at the church main building. I have a set of empty gallon jugs and the boxes they came in. I just tote the cart there, fill up, walk back and water.

12 years of no gardening. I am older and out of shape. The muscles are complaining this morning.
Boy, can I identify with the older and out of shape and I have only been "non-gardening" for 3 years with the ankle and then knees and replacements... Everything is complaining in the morning... of course it didn't help I spent about 12 hours on the tractor raking hay the last couple of days on top of it all.

The Bonnie seedlings are all the same here too... Our local nursery has 4 packs of very NICE and healthy plants for 2.79 and with SR discount, I get them for 2.49 or something like that. I wanted to grow and sell some this year but was not set up for it. Next year I hope to have some to sell too... at least pay for my seed and all....

When you say 4 packs, do you mean 4 pots with a plant in each pot or 1 pot with 4 plants in it, like 4 the just spouted cucumber plants in 1 cup?

Wow 😳 it's thundering and lightning and there wet stuff falling from the sky. It's been so long since we had a good thunderstorm. I almost forgot what a thunderstorm is like. I think my hunting dog forgot too, he's whining and won't leave my side, poor guy... I think I'll just keep on petting him.

The 4 packs are 4 little separate sections with one plant in each .... There are like 8/ 4packs in each full flat (or something like that) That nursery/greenhouse has really nice ones too.... Paying 4.00 or more for 1 plant in a 4 inch pot is ridiculous. Yes, the pots cost a little bit... but I can buy them for about .02 to .05 cents each....
I have never seen them have 4 sprouted seeds in 1 pot... even the cukes I think they do 2 seeds to each of the 4 little sections...

Got broccoli seedlings set in the garden, that a neighbor gave me... about 20 or so. Planted the rest of the row with some old green bean seeds. See if they sprout while I am up north for a few days for my parents estate business/house clean out. I see other seeds are sprouting... got some new green bean seeds up, some squash seeds up... some sunflower seeds sprouting too. Saw a hint of a potato shoot too. Tomatoes all have really good color from them getting their roots into the soil.... onion plants are showing a little green too... they were pretty dried out.... Bet it will look ALOT different after being away for 3 days. Lots of weeds too I am sure... I will have to get on the mulching when I get back... not enough time to do it before we leave.
Hay at the one field got wet today... 20% chance of pop up shower and it poured there... DS got 3 rolls done and had to quit.... we got about 10 sprinkles on the windshield here....:hit
:hit:barnie:barnie:somad:somad Now I will have to tedd it out tomorrow ... it will mold if left in the windrow... and don't know if it will get dry enough to rake and then make it before we have to go up north....
