There is a firm with similar...investments.

Anywhooo...I cancelled the credit card, replacement on way 😁. Not a problem at moment. Hope it isn't later  if so, cred protection people will be called. If/when a charge appears, I can contest.

Can't be much worse than the "Mr Cooper" mtg company fiasco of oct-nov. Their site was hacked and hundred of thousands of people exposed. They had bought my mtg with a package and for 2 mos site was down, people concerned of their personal data breach....and couldn't access their accounts.

Heck, I didnt know who "Mr Cooper" was -- thinking some perfert. Sent that email to spam. It was not a name in any notices sent to me.🤣

We still get paper statements as well from them so I notice them. I've gotten numerous email and paper mail about the data breach. Just got another a couple days ago. We'd had the loan through BoA originally until it was sold off.

My original mtg on house was through the bank... then sold to Mr Cooper for a year. Had very good service.... but then sold to Round Point mtg for the past year so not in the Mr Cooper "breech mess". This mtg co makes me change my password every few months....
I have had lots of trouble with Pay Pal over the years. Not a fan.... and I have a couple of credit cards that always send me a text to ask if I have made a purchase if it is not someone I have made a purchase from in the past.

Just got a text from a long time cc account yesterday... purchase I DID NOT make... got on the phone with their fraud dept as soon as I answered the text with a NO to making the purchase/charge.... locked card, and they are sending me a new one... one of my longest held cc's, so it happens all the time....

As I questioned the validity of this company... "too good to be true" ???? I guess we will see...

Only time we've had issues with CC number being used was when hubby booked a hotel down at the coast several years back. Navy Federal caught it fast and messaged us after the first test use for a buck at a gas station. Then they tried to buy some big purchase at a dollar store and it was denied. Over in Oklahoma which is way out of our normal areas we travel to and we don't shop normal dollar stores.

I found out last year that you can't use CC twice at an air pump. It immediately freezes the card. 15 minutes of call later I'd unfrozen my card. We use a different air pump now that gives more time.

I love that the card companies monitor -- to a degree. They actually alert when you are "outside your norm". Traveling, purchase size, etc. It's normally when you least expect it 😳 But ok. If I'm going somewhere several hundred miles away, I alert the card I'm using 😁 ya need gas!!!

So, $96. Charged on the account. New card coming, and nothing else can go on old one. While I'm not thinking things will arrive, I hope they do  eh, if not I'll dispute the charge next Friday. Fraud dept is already on alert from me.

Some companies offer a virtual card now, to try to help keep your info safer with Internet stuff. It's a criminal world out there! 😕

Way good sleuthing, Hinotori!!!!!!!!!

It's more that I'm untrusting and suspicious. Mom calls me a cynic because I don't trust commercials either. It's why I've never had issues with viruses on the computers. I'm familiar with suspicious websites. Always check how old it is first.

Like that website that was 'selling' canning lids back in 2000. They tried to make themselves look like an official Ball site, but I knew the Ball site and that they don't sell online. So I contacted Ball and let them know someone was imitating them. The fake site was gone within about 24 hours. Ball sent me a thank you email. Nothing like corporate lawyers protecting their brand to work fast. Hopefully it saved some people from the scam.

I looked again... it is bestbuysaving.com/products/Presto-precise-12qt-pressure-canner-02144....

I have compared it to several other sites and it is the same number 02144... says it is for canning only, no setting for pressure cooking.

I am going to order one... if you can't find it... let me know... I will order one for you and bring to the poultry swap in May.....That is a steal compared to the other ones at $300 more or less.... might be some sort of a closeout thing....says full warranty....
Reading the posts on this topic reminded me of an incident over a year ago. I forget the details, but it involved $400 All American pressure canners being "sold" for like $75. The folks in a FB canning group I am in discussed it so much that they spun off a separate FB page just to discuss. I think Walmart was somehow used in the scam. Noone got a canner and most got their money back.

Hope this turns out okay

😁 bought my $350 All American for $25! Craigslist. A guy "inherited". It was older, never used, orig PKG. Yep drove 100 miles and smiled the whole way home. Use it all the time. I bought a jiggler assembly...this was one with petcock.

Current probable fraud :idunnoMy cr card will remove the charge for me, I'm not worried. Replacement card on way. They want me to keep spending.

It's WHY I use credit cards, vice debit for such spends.
