I let the youngster stay up past his bed time. He fell asleep on my stomach and started snoring in a deep sleep. Then he started howling like a wolf. I woke him up while he wss still howling and put him to bed. I don't know what we was dreaming about, but I don't want no wolf sleeping on my stomach.

I'm thinking about getting FB a milk cow. I Just don't know what kind yet. I thought a dexter would be good but FB doesn't like the horns. It must be gentle and not produce a ton of milk every day.

You want a goat 🐐. Lol. Can't remember if you still have intact males in your beef herd. That could be an issue, too.

Horns can be removed. My grandparents had a small dairy farm. Been decades since I milked a cow, I don't miss it at all.

My advice, find a local to barter with. You can get milk in the quantity you want at the time you want

@CrealCritter I want a milk cow but simply to make butter....otherwise my goats provide excellent milk in quantities I can use. The Saanen girls give 1-2 gal a day of excellent milk. Goats like a friend, herd animals & goats have an escape personality. Honestly, my milking Saanens have the least tendencies of that penchant. BUT -- that orchard is history if they get loose!!! Plus rebreeding considerations are there.

Dexters are nice, I've heard. Yeah -- @farmerjan help them out here. At least you have a bull on site for re calving. 😉

I was much earlier getting woke than up but it’s time to get my coffee (I’m going to try a different sweetener as a little experiment). Then I’ll try to be a little productive before my normal scheduled Saturday disappearance with the grandkids.

I'm not getting goats, that much I do know.

Yes romeo is close to being a full grown bull now. For a bull I couldn't ask for anything better. He's thrown 6 bull calfs in a row, we'll soon find out if it's 9. Plus do you know of any bull that comes up the the fence for head scratches every day? So far he's been even tempered and gentle, but I still don't trust him, because he's a bull.

Actually I would like to get a gentle unbred mature dairy cow or a yearling hefier. So she could run with the herd until she comes into heat. Then romeo could breed her, nine months later we'll have milk. I just don't know what dairy breed would go well with a belted gallow bull. It would probably result in a very differnt looking calf.
