In my canning kitchen I am going to have a dowel rod on a small square of wood ticking straight up attached to the wall... Going to store my rings on it. Going to at least 2 for different sizes...
screw drivers work well too - slip them up under the ring.. open quite a few like that over the past week - cleaned out an abandoned root cellar.
I for one would never have enough rings to store them on the jars so that is not a problem for me lol! I never buy new jars so therefore I never get...

Not that I need more jars I just ordered a case of the 4oz jelly jars... my local stores usually don't stock them.
I love swimming holes.
We have a few, but you have to drive a ways to get to some of them. One is in the Pomme de Terre River, hubby knows a back way to get there and it is always an adventure. We go camping down there sometimes too. Lots of fish and the water is perfectly shallow clear...
4 years ago we were at an estate auction on Mother's day. My oldest was 9 months old, it was chilly and raining... we bought a few things but ended up leaving because of the weather. Anywho I noticed that there was a cellar FULL of canning jars (most had food in them still) big ones small ones...
I love paper bags!
I have 3 full of potatoes in the attic stairway right now...
Can you not take them with you when you go to the grocery store and have them re-use them? Like canvas bags...
Aldi's here has them but they charge $0.10 each for them. I usually just use their boxes instead.
I plan on cutting the grapefruit in half and then taking a sharp knife to cut the fruit out. That is how I do it when I am going to eat a pineapple, and it seems like the easiest way.
Doing more carrots today - this morning I did 9 pints and now have 6 quarts and 1 pint in the canner. Yesterday I did 6 quarts mixed vegetables and 1 quart just carrots (ran out of greenbeans)
Tomorrow I will be doing pineapples and grapefruit combos.
We are!
We qualify for EIC with 2 kids. We usually pay off bills with it - with some of it we are building a canning kitchen this spring. I can't wait! Last year we got around 10K.
you must have a HUGE slow cooker then or multiple ones! lol When I make broth I fill up my 21 quart capacity pot, let it cook all day and then can. My recipe says for quarts you process for 40 minutes, pints do 35 minutes. I have made broth at least 4 different times this year and have almost...
Just came home with 15lbs of baby carrots, 3 pineapples and 2lbs green beans...
Carrots are on sale at Aldi's for $0.49 a lb and pineapples are $0.99!!
Canned 7 quarts of carrots (7 lbs) on Saturday. Aren't they just beautiful??
