Yep, I did clean up after the storm. I am between Houston & Humble. I am making wine. I would love to know how to melt bottles and and make cheese trays.
Right now I am investigating how much land I can give up for Muscadine vines. Jewett? Your gonna make me look on the map now. I've been all...
I wish I had a free apple press. I have a gallon of hard apple cider in the primary now, will put it in the secondary on the 17th of this month. ABV will be around 12.5%
You've hit the nail on the head right there. Soil, weather, and the time you are willing to put into the land are all factors. Money at first can be a huge issue.
Craigslist, direct sales at plant nurserys, side of road, and here lately word of mouth from previous customers.
I also am always willing to trade for empty 750ml cork style wine bottles.

I have started to make my own wine. I needed some smaller food grade buckets for the smaller one gallon batch primaries. I went to "Shipleys" donuts yesterday and got one 1 gallon bucket and two 2 gallon buckets out of their dumpster. I did ask for permission though.
I was doing pics as you were posting that I reckon. Also, I never sell anything for more than $20. Never. Most of the time its in the $5 to $10 range. Us poor people know we can make it out of whatever, those rich people (nothing against them, they are more valuable to you than you know) like to...
I pick up the old privacy fences that people throw away and make garden furniture, wishing wells, birdhouses, planters and stuff. I sell it to rich folks, they cant get enough of it.
I use them for BBQing. When I want to keep my sause warm inside the pit I put the sauce in them and then I dont have a pot or bowl that is impossible to wash because of all of the smoke. Just throw it away when done.
