Oh gotcha, well there are plenty of breeders in Texas if you ever care to go registered. I doubt it would help you sell piglets though, market isn't great. I just find it fun to look at the different lines and learn about who's related to who, lol. There were only 4 foundation hogs in the registry so most of them are related somehow.

Sigh......here we go again. DH has had a major bleed in his right eye. It's been a crappy eye for awhile now so he's just like...okay time to start surgery again I guess.

Might be time for a disability lawyer.

AND, it's pouring down rain and has been for hours...no dry/high ground left anywhere....

Oh noooooo on both accounts! I never realized it was so dang rainy there. Ya know, everyone thinks Texas is a desert lol.

Hope DH gets that eye fixed up. That is stressful and scary. So sorry

So sorry to hear about DH's troubles

It really does suck for him. But, he's taking it very well...got up and went to work this morning like nothing happened. His eye surgeon, the one that we love, is with a different office now. He's already got an appointment with him for about two weeks from now so he's planning on just waiting to go see him then. I think it's foolish, but there's really nothing he can do...except give him an injection to stop the bleeding and DH thinks the bleeding has already stopped anyway. In two weeks the surgeon should be able to tell if we need to go ahead and schedule surgery. I think that's the only option - but what do I know? He already has a cataract in that eye anyway so why not just get started....

He stared researching SS last night. Trying to decide whether to start taking it or try to wait and get an increased amount a few years down the road. He came to me this morning and said with all of his troubles he doesn't think his life expectancy is all that great and wants to start taking SS now. I think he's right...

Stress causes high blood sugar and high blood sugar causes all the other issues. He needs to get away from the stress of an administrative job. He's getting in high gear to get his other health issues taken care of and then will try to get out of the rat race. It'll probably still be another 6 months or so at least.

Financially we should be ok. Everything we own is paid for except his car and I'll pay that off this month. I was teasing him last night and asked if I should buy him an apron and a set of pearls so he can be a high-class house husband, lol.

It sounds like the right thing to do, sorry he's having a rough time health wise but glad you're in a place where that's an option. If your health is suffering, time to fix that first.

Reality is knocking on the door. Your husband has opened the door and is ready to do what it takes to improve his health so that he can have the best life possible for the rest of his life. It sounds like a wise move to me.

I'm ready for him to just get all his health concerns addressed and get the heck outta that high-stress life he's been living. I think he might be able to learn to relax on the farm. He's actually in pretty good spirits. I think it's because he knows there's an end in sight.

Aren't pigs just the loveliest, smartest most self-sufficient animals ever?!! It rained here for most of the week. It rained alllll day yesterday and alllll night last night. I knew I had a couple sows ready to pop so I was just hoping against hope that they'd hold off until after the rain. Very relieved this morning that there were no babies. I gave them a bale of hay this morning 'justincase' and it's a good thing I did! Came home to a sow delivering. She had 5 when I found her - and six by the time I got through feeding. Don't know if there'll be more or not but look at this. See the water all around? There is NO water in her little nest. It is high and dry and the babies have already learned to burrow into the hay. Thank goodness it's going to be dry and beautiful for the next week. Hallelujah!
