I have carnivorous pets like ferrets, dogs, and cats. The best kind of diet is one that consists of raw meat, meaty bones, and whole prey. My ferrets go through 1lb a day and if I were to switch my dog and cats over, then I'd be going through 30lbs a week!
I don't like buying meat from the...
Have not posted in a while, but I am still alive. Update: We have moved. We moved in with my mother in law in her 3 bedroom townhouse. It is closer to work and we are allowed to have our animals.
I'm still not allowed to have any more though so keeping button quail, rabbits, chickens, ect is...
My list probably won't get done, since procrastinating is my middle name. Haha. I never get anything done.
- Feed and water all animals (ok, that will get done :) )
- Break down and store away all saltwater tank equipment
- Clear and clean corner in living room and move small table to it
- Do...
As far as feeding my animals, I just go with what they are supposed to eat. The cats are loving their raw diet and I'm noticing an improvement in their dental health. I have my own issues with the meat industry but I hope to one day be supplying my own whole prey animals that I breed myself. I'm...
I used to live out in the country (about 45 minutes from the city) and we had 3 horses, rabbits, dogs, cats, a pony. It was wonderful. And I love the smell of horses. I can't wait till I can go and ride again. :)
I've never really been much of a germaphobe. I was the kid who ate dirt and stole food from the dog. I follow a 5-10 second rule, 10 seconds being if its something I really wanted to use/eat. I only wash my hands after using the bathroom or feeding/playing with the animals.
And I can tell you...
I was joking as in I would keep the animals in the house and the children would sleep out in a barn. Not that I would actually do that.
I wish there was a place where I could get my farm fix, like going to help someone with feeding, grooming, and caring for the animals or something like that...
I don't like any animal suffering. I don't like docking or cropping of dogs, I don't like declawing of cats, and I don't really agree with branding either. I would like any animal I keep's life to be as painless as possible. Is it possible to house goats together and not have them injure each...
Well when I meant de-horning, disbudding was also included in that umbrella. I think any animal that screams while a body part is getting cut/burned off is in extreme pain and I can't inflict that upon another creature like that. I'm not sure I would be able to, unless the animal was put under...
5 is his minimum. I told him as long as I can be a stay at home mom and run a small farm, we can have a lot of kids. :)
I want goats, chickens, ducks, horses, cows, dogs, cats, ferrets, the whole shebang. <-- spelling?
My mother said I stepped on a bee when I was younger and my whole foot swelled up, so ever since then she's kept me away from bees and I had an epi-pen for the longest time but it expired last year.
I don't ever remember being stung, but I don't fancy finding out how it feels. Mostly in my...
I want to have goats, but everywhere I look, they talk about de-horning the goats. Is it possible to safely keep goats and not have them de-horned? The whole process of de-horning looks painful and almost cruel to me. I have seen people keep goats with horns before but I have not talked to them...
I am allergic to bees and this makes it hard to be outside and garden. I want to do an overhaul on my yard and get the weeds out and turn the ground up a bit. Basically I have a little list.
- Pull up/destroy weeds
- Pull up/destroy all plant life in yard
- Sweep concrete patio
- Fix gate
-...
A sugar glider is a marsupial from Australia. I have a picture of mine somewhere but I'd have to go digging for it. Just go to google and type in sugar glider and click images. You should get a ton of pictures of them. They are a very popular pet, but very hard to take care of.
I've been vegetarian for a little over a year now. I went vegan for about 3 months last year, but I didn't know how to cook anything and ended up not eating much. I didn't think I could go vegetarian/vegan either. (I love ribs!) but I did it and I don't think I could ever go back. Meat smells...
