    What's your fav. deer rifle?

I started with my Papaws Enfield MKIII .303, which is an awesome gun, but for the past 7 years, I have sorta retired it and gone to a Marlin 30-30 lever action. Its a great gun...not the best for long range, but I have never had to make a shot over 100 yds. Its very brushy where I live, and...

The wealth gap & other ills.... Warning: long and could make you sick

I feel you. A week or so ago, I was watching this show called Till Debt Do Us Part, where they help you figure out how to fix your financial mess. Mind you, I am stressing over money here as well(wife is not the healthiest, 5 kids, and making half what I made last year). Anyway, on this...

What do you plan to grow next year?

We have a small backyard garden so are limited by space. The plan for next year is cukes(for pickles), tomatoes, onions, garlic, spinach, mustard greens, and jalepenos in planters. That should be enough to keep us busy!!!

    recycled cannas

The other day I was putting up a building for a guy. I noticed his bed of cannas was really overgrown. I guess he noticed me looking, he started telling me how he was going to dig them all up and plant something else. Long story short, he told me to help myself. I went back this morning and...

    Finds at the produce stand

Yeah, i'm going to save seeds from each type. Tried a banana squash with the chickens, they ate a litle but weren't terribly enthused. I have a post in the kitchen section for recipe ideas. There are some out there, mostly as a substitute for pumpkin.

I passed the local produce stand; they were shutting down for the season. Barn Cat Help

We had a black cat that started as a house cat, but became one of the all time great barn cats. Binx was small(maybe 4-5 pounds), but when she went semi wild, she was the neighborhood executioner. Full grown squirrels, giant sewer rats, pigeons, and lots and lots of mice. Plus she dodn't want...
