Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

A huge wind storm came thru at 1a.m.ish yesterday. We lost power at 1:30. It came back on at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. In the meantime, we had an OSHU appt for eye oncology at 10:20 this morning. I called them to see if they were open and yes, the entire hill had electricity. Hubs is healing...

They are alot more high tech than even a few years ago. App for this, website for that. I prefer to enter things on my laptop, but I found yesterday that I had to enter photos from an app from my phone. Yes, they can teach an old dog new tricks.

    What's for dinner?

I'm feeling poor lately. SS isn't covering our purchases, which are out of control. I used to do alot of Mystery Shopping back in 2018, 10 and early 20. It made ends meet for me, since I was delaying my SS until age 67. I did two Panda express shops today, and the two meals I ordered (and get...

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

I wonder what type of deer we have down here. "Eat all the vegetation in site" type, for sure. @Hinotori : we got 0.9" of rain between midnight and 5:30 a.m. I had to take hubs for a colonoscopy at 6 a.m., and boy was it hard to drive at that hour, with pouring rain and standing water.

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

Yes, Hinotori. We got 1.70" yesterday!! The massive long rain starts Sunday. The local fella on FB, who watches both major models, said we could get 5 - 8" of rain over 4 days. There will be small stream flooding and the rivers will rise a bit. I'm on a hill, but our natural springs will be...

    What's for dinner?

We're tired of turkey fixin's. So I simmered the carcass and picked the meat and the softened bones for animal treats. Last nite I fried some leftover rice, added onions and red bells, and then scrambled eggs into it. Served with sweet potatoes and salad.

What are you having for Thanksgiving dinner?

Mini: you could fly out to WA and eat with us. We are staying home and not going to DD's house. Hubs didn't want to. So it will just be the three of us. One more won't be a bother.

    What's for dinner?

I tried to make butternut squash soup last nite. I had my home canned broth, cut up one of my garden butternuts, used some dehydrated celery and carrots, and spices. Got it all into the pot and could not for the life of me figure out how to make it work. I was tired and irritated so I put the...

Coffee's Ready, Come and Sit on the Porch

I casually deboned two turkeys, which cost about $14 for 37.15 lbs. I got 6 quarts mixed with white and dark meat, four of which are processing in my Carey auto pressure canner. I've got two crockpots going until tomorrow morning, and I still have the back and breast bone for the 3rd crockpot...

    What's for dinner?

I'm going to can up two turkeys. They were 39 cents per lb here at Safeway. I donated four of them to the food bank where I volunteer. They were a little over $4 and $5 for each!!!!!!
