    400 pounds of tomatoes

I hope the tomato adventure is going good! I love to can but, that looks daunting!

    Sewing machine problem--FIXED :)

I knew they needed cleaning and oiling but, I didn't know how often until my SIL filled me in. She informed me that with all the sewing I do once a year or once every couple years--basically whenever I thought of it--just isn't enough! Oh well, live and learn!

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

LOL It wouldn't be a small farm with 1500 cows on 10 acres even if it were a mom and pop type farm. :)

Yes, different points of view. :) Not uncommon when you have two different people talking about the same issue.

Is the $10K to be adjusted income or gross income? If gross income it's not a lot but, if adjusted income that is a bit trickier depending on size and I'm assuming your not talking a really big farm!

    Sewing machine problem--FIXED :)

I've tried adjusting top and bottom threads. I'm down to an 11 needle and there was no difference. I didn't disassemble this time when I cleaned it, maybe I need to give that a try.

    Sewing machine problem--FIXED :)

Thank you for the info, I will keep it in mind. This was my grandma's machine and I really don't want to have to replace it so it sounds like maybe a trip to the repair shop is in order.

I had just cleaned and oiled it before I put it away this spring but, when it gave trouble I redid it. Tension is fine also.

Jason closes his journal... Thanks!! I love you!!

Take a couple days to calm down and think over what you want to do. My daughter was hurt at school and it was never reported. Three teachers failed her and she came home off the bus sick. She had a concussion. I was steaming angry. I waited a couple days and then called the principal. It was...

    Sewing machine problem--FIXED :)

Well, the machine has sewn cotton just fine before and I sew a lot of cotton. I shouldn't have to use freezer paper for it.

    Sewing machine problem--FIXED :)

I'm having trouble with my sewing machine. I'm trying to sew cotton material. I have always used the Universal needles with cotton but, I was told my trouble is the needle. I tried a new one and still had the same problem. My SIL suggested trying the quilting needles. So I bought some and the...

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

It would need to be trucked in whether from small farmers or large farmers so, why does it have to be large farms? Not saying they are all bad but, your pushing so for them and I'm interested in hearing why it seems you think it needs to be large farms instead of the smaller ones.

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

Hmmmm, whether you have 1500 (or whatever amount) cows on a farm or if you have them on several farms, the same amount of land is needed to produce the food for them. I think the difference here is, the hores salesman, leathermen, etc. could retrain for a job that goes with what came with the...

Interesting dairy farm-- definately not a homestead

There was a very interesting statement made on the radio this morning regarding this. It was that while the company farms have more cows they do not help the population as well as many smaller farms all totally the same number of cows. Why? Because cows don't shop! In other words, instead of...
