Stocking Up, Putting Back, Prepping = Paranoia?

I took a slightly different approach to determining how much to put back. After 3 years of trying to find a calculation that worked for me, I decided to do one on my own. I found the recommended servings of each food group by age and sex and activity level. I then input the number of people I...

    My buddy has passed.

Sounds as though heaven has gained an angel. Reading your description of her brings a tear to my eye thinking of an elderly neighbor I had growing up. He was one of God's angels here on earth too. I can't wait to see him again someday! :hugs

Stocking Up, Putting Back, Prepping = Paranoia?

I call the entitlement group the "more for free bunch". BTW- I live in So. IN too. Meth is horrible. In my hometown, a man killed his wife and small child and stuffed them into a rubbermaid container. The smell was was bad that his neighbors complained, which is how the police found out...

    Anyone from Boise, ID area?

I have a possible job opportunity in Boise ID. I know nothing about the area. Before I get too much further into the interview process, I would like to know a little bit more. Such as: 1. Is there an area of the city to avoid? It seems that a lot of the houses I have been looking at on-line...

David Ramseys Finance Univerisity has anyone take it here

Hi! I am a CPA, so I thought that I would offer my 2 cents here. Bascially, I agree with much of what DR says and think he has some great ideas. However, if your finances are a bit more complex that daily budgeting etc, he is not the best. Some of the things he is SO negative on, can be...

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

I am canning salsa today. I made it last night and put in the fridge to sit over night to let the flavors mingle. I had a bit of corn left so I added that to the salsa, it gave it a bit of sweet crunch. I just love to hear to pop when you can. It makes me feel so, umm, prepared.

Where do you buy your bulk foods?

I get my staples from LDS cannery in Indianapolis- milk is especially a good buy from here. Sam's Club has Augason Farms brand which come in a 2-pks. The cheese powder is WONDERFUL. Emergency Essentials has a wide variety of foods in #10 cans, from baking powder to popcorn, which have very...

Stocking Up, Putting Back, Prepping = Paranoia?

Not much else I can add that hasn't been said. If I am paranoid, then so be it. I try to stock for long term storage, nutrient dense foods, but I have also put back some "treats" to help with food fatigue. Popcorn stores well and makes a great treat. Hard candy is also a good long term...
