Bay, you know where you can find, Me, as well as Bee, and Lisa. Hope to see you there. That is one place where I am free to be me without someone becoming offended at who I am.

I've really enjoyed my chats with some of the folks I've met on SS. But, it's time for me to move on. I will not stay on a forum that censors freedom of speech. It's especially galling to know that I was censored for a post, but have no idea what the post was, nor what my grievous sin was...

When we went to pick up the stable litter, M gave me 3 turkey eggs. So tempted to bring them home and stick them in an incubator. But, MUST, ABSOLUTELY NOT. I don't need to be raising birds. However... If I had a hen go broody between now and the day I eat them, I would consider it to be...

One of my elderberry cuttings has sprouted a root! Several of the others have new leaves, but no roots. I'm a bit perplexed by that development! Won't consider this experiment to be a success UNLESS they continue to grow through the summer, and THEN break dormancy and grow well in the spring...

    Special Request

Our whole world needs prayer as we head into the great reset, or the fulfillment of prophecies for last days before the return of Jesus Christ. This is my prayer: That God's people will rise up in prayer for all those who have not yet claimed the redemption offered by Jesus Christ. Because...

Britesea - Living the good life in rural Oregon

@Beekissed has WPR, and, as far as I know, she will tell you that they are the best all round DP bird. If you want an easy build, especially, given your climate, consider building a cattle panel coop. You can even use T posts to hold the hoops in place. Bare soil construction is IMO the...

Britesea - Living the good life in rural Oregon

It has been my experience that roosters won't fight (much, if at all) if there are no ladies. I keep my cockerels in a grow out pen, beside the coop/run that houses my laying flock with their attendant roo. The cockerels do a bit of "establish pecking order" fighting, but do not do any "out to...

Creal, I have read similar study. Interesting, to say the least. This morning, after letting my herbs wilt overnight, I've started the infusions for my PI salve. steeping them in pint jars in the crock pot. Should end up with enough oils to make about 3 cups of salve.

Have you tried schooling him in acceptable behavior? All my roos go to behavior management class, starting with the very moment I know they are boys. I always keep them arm's length away, don't let them eat until the ladies have eaten. Depending on their behavior, they may get daily or...

    Pickle/relish recipes

Here's a recipe for the sweet zucchini relish. I find it to be too sweet, so I'd cut the sugar in half. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/172346/sweet-zucchini-relish/

    Pickle/relish recipes

I make a zucchini relish that I absolutely love. Have to find a recipe each time I make it. It is quite sweet, has turmeric, red pepper, onion, and a bit of corn starch to thicken it up a bit. I'll see if I can find it, since that's my next project! I have a total of 25 pints of dilly beans...

Unfortunately, Old roos become a liability. I've found that their chick making days end at about 4 years of age. Seems my roos can't hit the target after that age. Perhaps, they might last longer if they had eye glasses, or perhaps the hens wore saddles!!!
