A wood stove is a fantastic back-up. Not only does it provide heat, but you can cook on it too. I was so grateful for mine when our power went out last year. It's not great for cooking on, but the heat was wonderful and it was lovely sitting by it in the evening. It was warm and semi-light from the glass front :)

Found this old axe last week. It was leaning against a house. From the looks of the old handle and the pits I think it had been out there a few years. Had to rescue her

it's been horrible. Rain for a week straight. Lots of standing water and flooding. We have more on the way. I'm afraid all the seeds I planted are gonna rot

DH built a chicken plucker from a washing machine. He still prefers to skin them! The washing machine is overpowered and would often shear off quite a bit of skin. It's better than plucking by hand though!
