Our female Great Pyrenees kills everything that is dumb enough to come into "her" space. The chickens and sheep belong to her and nothing is allowed near them.

The harvests look great! You did amazing for your first year Sorry to hear about the loss of your bunny and chickens. I hope you'll get, or at least scare off the culprit. It's so frustrating when predators come help themselves to our hard work and efforts, especially when they "move in" and keep coming back.

Last night we had no losses. We didn't find any dead predators either. the dogs must habe scared him off

There use to be a raccoon that would poop on our deck furniture every night until we got a dog. After that we saw it one time in a tree overlooking the deck watching us but that was that.

It's been a busy day today. I'm dog tired and didn't get half of what I wanted done. we harvested the last of the corn that pollinated and wasn't eat up with smut or worms. pulled all the stocks, mowed the 3 acres and raked it all. then we started piling grass clippings where the corn was. It's about 6 inches thick. after that's done we will add some compost and another 4 inches of wood chips.

We decided against a fall garden. I'm tired of fighting grass. so I'm going to mulch the he'll out of it and plant in the spring. hopefully we can get everything killed out. seems grass clipping are pretty good at that.

I think ya'll have had an outstanding garden! You might want to put in a few rows of fall veggies. Cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, greens, green onions....

you don't think I should let all the mulch and stuff have for a few months before planting?

working in the garden again. chickens get all the crap like big yellow cucumbers, melons with holes in them and even the first damn ripe watermelon of the year by mistake.....damn birds eat better than I do.
