I may have a chance to get a fryer-rabbit and I want to convince DH to let me try raising them.

Let it rest in the fridge for a day. Then quater and soak in buttermilk over night. Batter and fry.

Long time no post, ehh?

Ok so heres a little update. I havent one squat! and its been nice. I think i needed some down time. I dont plan on tackling the chore list until after the holidays are over.


So anyhow i have been up to stuff tho. I recently became addicted to buying old mechanics tools and such. I scored a lot of tools from a guy on marketplace. He was selling off his grampas stuff. Alot of american tools from the 40s and 50s. So then i found myself looking for more and more deals. Sometimes it was good and other times just ok

Heres the first lot that got me hooked. I paid $30 for all of it. Thats ratchet was made in 46 and the sockets were from the 50s. The big black double ended wrench....idk looks like 20s to me.

Score! I love old hand tools. You have some really nice tools. Winter is good for down time. sometimes you need to just let things be or you get burnout. You and your wife worked so hard this past summer to grow and can your garden produce. Now is when you enjoy the fruits of your labors. Eat well!

Agree with Bay, we all NEED downtime. It's why we have winter, IMO. Can't see much other use for it. But the cold does help with some bugs & some plants/seeds need the cold, tree sap, etc.

So, enjoy some "time off". I've dried off all my goat does, hauled in some hay, reworked hayracks, water tubs, covered some open areas with winter plastic, etc Little more to do at the water pipe/spigot areas but mostly done. Then, I'm on "downtime" for farm projects, just daily feed chores for a while. March will start up with kids being born & gardening to do. Jan/Feb will be time for the seed-porn to arrive, read and aha over. Hope to early plow in Feb this year. Depends on our weather.

It's a cycle. This is slowdown & plan time.

The boy got his first doe of the season today. Cant wait for chicken fried deer steak!

Congrats. You are training up the next generation: Able to think independently, and not be dependent on Uncle Sam to "take care of me." If more of us became self sufficient, debt free, and able to grow our own food, our nation would be turned on it's ear. Uncle Sam would not know what to do with a nation full of free thinking, independent, self sufficient, able to feed themselves, and armed individuals. I think that we have voluntarily given up way too many of our personal responsibilities and freedoms.
