If I can any more beans, my bed will start to fart since thier all stored under there.

Maybe thats where that strange smell is coming from.

I have some light reds I need to can -- a gotta buy at price I did. I never did dry beans until couple yrs ago when @Chic Rustler posted about and a light went off for me.

Now I have white, red and pinto ready at pop of a lid! It's great!! :drool

I’ve been canning my SHTF pinto beans. First try, they were still hard. I suppose being 12 years old might’ve had something to do with it. Seriously, I think those beans, packed in a black powder rifle, would bring down a deer! HARD as rocks!

So next try I soaked 24 hours. Then drained, added water and simmered them for awhile. THEN I canned those deer buckshot rams! Turned out perfect. Instant beans, like @Mini Horses said, just pop the lid!

My beans always end up over-cooked. I'm going to age some beans then. What do you think - 5 years?
