Abifae - Ciao Babies!

Very pretty dragonflies! One of these years, I'll get into sewing.

You should, Raven :)

Start really simple. Rectangle skirt gathered onto a waist.

So, the vest is barely purple, but I'll line it anyway. I will just have a less purple mad hatter. I know!!! Purple lace overlay!!!!! bwahaha...

Then I have the waist on the winter dress. I can hem the bottom and it is done. Ruffle can be done later if needed.

I need to redo the leotards' snaps. That should take ten minutes.

I need to sketch out the wraps for nieces and the outfit for Auntie.

The Halloween skirt is done, it just needs hemmed. And I need to add lace to a shirt. I might just do a tshirt. Maybe one I just dyed!

I have kimchi to learn.

I have two books to write for auntie.

And I need to go through my stuff to clear stuff away before I move.

I want to plot a couple of baking parties too.

*tries to make more time*

That is a great idea!

I haven't made it before!! I can't wait!!!

Yeh and the lace overlay will be nice. I think it's my best bet. I'll see what I can find :)

I see you've been playing around a bit with procion dyes! Just got done doing tie dyes for a 4-H youth project. First year we did this we used a kit from dharma trading co. Now instead of the synthrapol I use oxyclean and warm water for the stain removing step after rinsing. Sometimes you have to do that step twice, but oxyclean doesn't smell as bad and isn't as hard on your hands as synthrapol.

Haven't done batiking yet, but I have a friend who does it, and it's very cool. What fabrics did you dye? and if you used different fabrics, did you follow the isntructiions for those or did you just wing it? :D The purple-enhanced-by-gravity shirt sounds really neat.

I'm still very much learning. Mostly held in by lack of space. I'm hoping that having a real yard in Loveland will help this along :)

I follow the instructions since I don't know enough yet to wing it. And I'll keep oxyclean in mind. I like this plan!!!

I also do silk dyeing (just vat because I do not have a steamer yet. Emphasis on yet. I want a steamer to do millinery work too and am hoping to find something that will do both).

Ooh, silk with a steamer- very fancy! I just do cotton shirts as a science/chemistry project with my youth. I also like it because it's LITERALLY hands on and is great for teaching spatial relations. I haven't had to order dye in a long time, but if I remember- don't they have different dyes for silk, poly/synthetics and cotton? maybe they're all procion but different formulas for those fabrics...

Anything that says "stain remover" on it will work instead of the synthrapol. *edit- I can say this for cotton only. not sure about other fabrics* I have used clorox 2/color safe bleach as well. (Not hydrogen peroxide bleach products though). I generally don't use those kinds of detergents on my clothes, but for the dying process it's improtant to follow the instructions somewhat. So I don't mess with substituting castile soaps or more env firendly laundry stuff that I'd normally use for that step. But if you don't follow it and mess it up, it's all in the name of science! :clap

Cool! I cannot wait to get better at it :)

Maybe in a decade I'll have learned enough to sew a really great outfit, including doing all the dye work and cut outs and stuffs.
