I teared up a bit as I drove away, but I know it was the right thing to do! I'll be sending his hide away to be tanned as soon as it's been salted enough! I can't wait to taste that first chop!

I ran and got some warm soapy water and tied her up so I could try to push it back in. The prolapse was fairly big....about two or three times the size of a large grapefruit. 
I couldn't get it back in because she was pushing against me. So I put in an emergency call to the vet. barnie) the vet got here and we went to work. We put a dog carrier under Purl's stomach/hind end so her butt was higher than her head. That helped to tilt everything in the right direction. The vet gave her an epidural and was able to push the prolapse back in. Then he gave her a local and stitched up her vulva (a caslick stitch). 
Which made me cringe. 
Wow, I hope everything goes well. Sounds like quite a situation. will this affect her if bred again, or will it heal sufficiently so she can be bred again?
Well I'm not sure if it'll affect her in the future or not. It's possible. I've only dealt with one prolapse before, and that was on a 10 year old ewe. Plus it was very small compared to Purl's. Purl is only 3, so I really hope it won't be an issue in the future. I'm going to email her breeder and talk to them about it.miss_thenorth said:
