Aggieterpkatie-Pics of my new rabbit-Page 38 !!!!!

We had a goat doe one time rectal prolapse after birth, yuck! I had gotten finished helping out a first time doe (she wanted to stand up and give birth) and ran out to check pastured does to see who I could bring to the birthing barn. I saw a doe had given birth, scooped babies up, turned her around and there was a *lot* hanging out. Ughhh, sooo nasty.
 
STILL no lambs. :barnie I'm about ready to pull my hair out. Yesterday I put Purl in the small outdoor pen with her BFF Darla (my other ewe) and they enjoyed the sunshine and warm weather together. I saw a small amount of clear discharge early in the day..maybe noonish/2pm. Nothing else that day. I was hoping the walking might get her started.

These night time checks aren't much fun. I dreamed I was trying to watch her on a monitor and there was a help line lady who called and said she had a "limb" protruding so I rushed out there (in my dream). When I woke up I went to check her even though it wasn't quite time to check yet (I've been checking every 2 hours). I would think I hear something on the monitor (grunting) and go out and she's chewing her cud all relaxed. :rolleyes:

This morning she's chewing her cud so I'm going to try to rush out and pick up the processed lamb and hide and come back home. Hopefully she won't decide *now* is the time. :lol: I've only got until Monday then I have to go back to work on Tuesday. She BETTER have them by then!!!
 
Heh Heh Heh.....I know that cud chewing sound.

Last night Big G woke me up about three fricken times to tell me to go out and check on the goats. After an explicit word came of my mouth and his profession of his worry wortness I explained what every noise on the monitor was. The noises he heard was either the cud chewing, moaning from labored sleep breathing or the guineas clucking in the hen house next to the goat barn.

I "very politely" explained the next time he woke me up there'd better be a good reason or I was going to make him sleep out there with the goats. Either learn the noises or get out. Done.
 
STILL NOTHING! Today is day 152! I'm going nuts. I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow! :he I took Purl for a walk this morning and gave her a stern talking to. She better go!

:lol: I haven't tried that, OFG!! I was hoping her walk around the yard this morning would help, plus I left the house for a few hours. I thought for sure that would work! We're supposed to get some snow tonight, so I hope that'll do the trick! :D
 
Purl Update: There is no update. :lol: It snowed last night, so luckily we had a liberal leave policy in affect for work, so I took advantage of that and I'm home again today. I don't ever want to go back! :lol: DH is most likely taking off work tomorrow, at least half a day, so he'll be able to check on Purl before he goes into work.

In other sheepy news, we brought the lamb that was processed back home. The meat looks great, they did a great job! It was only $42.50 for processing AND they salted the hide for me. He said just round it down to $40, but I rounded up to $50 because they were so great! We probably got back 35-40ish pounds of meat, along with bones for stock or dogs and the heart and liver (for a friend who feeds raw dog food). Plus, the hide is gorgeous and HUGE. It's salting now in the barn and will be ready for shipping to the tanners in a week hopefully. I can't wait to get it back!!

We made pot roast with a lamb leg roast on Saturday. Holy cow it was SOOO good! This ram lamb had just turned a year old, and I was nervous it would be off tasting or not as tender. It was fall-off-the-bone tender and SO mild flavored. REALLY delicious!! :drool

I've been knitting more to take my mind off Purl. I just made my DH's good friend an ear-flap hat, and now I'm working on a bag that I'm going to felt...my own pattern. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

I may also make some pasta today to use up some excess eggs. My hens only gave me 6 eggs on Sunday, so I kept them in the coop yesterday as a reminder for them to lay IN the nesting boxes. I got 12 eggs yesterday, so that's more like it! I still should be getting more...but hopefully the warmer weather will fix that!

This line just made me laugh! :gig How can knitting get your mind off of Purl. Don't you knit like me... you know knit one "purl" two?

Glad your lamb meat turned out so well! We LOVE lamb at this house. We have just about finished off the last one we bought so I will probably be in the market for a lamb sometime this fall. Your roast sounds delightful!
