I've heard of the wasp spray - it has like a 30ft stream that is relatively easy to direct. I just wonder if reaction time + travel time would be efficient?
Ground pepper hey? I haven't heard of it but I would imagine it isn't comfortable! That might be a good idea just to keep a tray of it on the shelf near the door, or on a handy counter in the kitchen.
My dad isn't home but I will ask him some about it. I had planned to buy a shed and a deep freezer with my bonus at the first of the year + my tax return... but I may invest in protection instead.
For Christmas I am apparently paying medical bills. Tomorrow morning I am going to see my orthopedic doc about my knee. It has had me in tears the last few days, and now, I guess because of how I favor that leg, my other hip is hurting. It is heck getting old.
Then on Thursday I am going to have a filling replaced. It is one of those mercury fillings and it is starting to break apart around the edges.
Yay me! lol
This morning my neighbor Mr B left a bag of magazines hanging on my fence - Backyard Poultry, Country Living, Hobby Farmer and a 2011 Almanac. Good times!
I realized I had left out some stories about processing day on Saturday. The funniest one was we decided to time my friend in skinning / parting up a chicken. Her BF had laughed at us about how long it took (he is still at work offshore). She was cruising full speed ahead when she put pressure on the chest cavity and the chicken "BAWK"ed at her!! She jumped and I laughed so hard I thought I was going to wet my pants!!
At first the meats didn't notice their numbers were dwindling... they would come meet us at the gate and we'd just scoop one up. The last 3 I had to work to catch them. The very last one slipped past me and out of the gate into my backyard. K's son came to help me but while I was waiting on him I gave Rio directions. "Go around" and I pointed him under the boards where the meat had gone to hide. He flushed her out and she headed out towards the main part of the yard. I pointed and told Rio "Over there" and he went around and we cornered her in the bend of the "L" shaped chicken yard. He started to move in too close so I said "That's good, back up!" and he stepped back. K's son said "Wow, he's good!"..... I stared slackjawed and said "yeah... he is!". He knows the basics of "Go around" "Over there" and "back up" , but I sure never expected him to have them so fine tuned when he was around a flapping chicken! I love that hound!
