AL - Recording baby steps: Newest Addition

The last couple of days have been the kind where I am insanely busy and accomplish nothing.
Yesterday I spent the whole day helping a friend move a lot of decorative landscaping stuff - a big sago palm, a beautiful "lady of prosperity
fountain, and a bunch of big rocks. She has started turning her backyard into a flower/vegetable /butterfly garden and it is turning out quite nice.
Anyway, today my knee feels like I have been mule-kicked, my hands are full of splinters and I have nothing to show for it LOL.

It is 70*, overcast and windy. I cleared out the chicken house, put some fresh straw down and moved their "flock block" inside since it is supposed to rain the next few days.
I put a couple more wheelbarrows of horse manure out on the garden compost. I am trying to put a very thin layer all over, but not too much so that it can decompose ok.

Speaking of horses... my foster horse, Buddy, has 2 sores on his back. They are about nickel sized round spots. Originally they had a really thick scab on them - I pulled it off and it was smooth dry skin, no wound. Now, they are scabbing over again. Any ideas? I can take pics if needed, but there isn't much to them.

I have very exciting plans for tonight.... I will be spending time with my friend Kim (meat chickens) and her 2 kids (15 and 7). Hopefully I will still manage to be home for an early bedtime. :)

AL, are the spots kind of oozy at all? If so, it could be rain rot. You can make a medicated wash using equal amounts of the brown Listerine and water.

No... no ooze. The spot was very smooth when I pulled the scab off. Now they have a greasy feeling white scab forming. I may try the listerine just in case though. Thanks.

Speaking of rain - we have had just over an inch today already, and more on the way. It is dark as dusk out and we have a tornado watch.

Last night I welcomed the new year at my friend's house with her, her BF (the one who skipped out on the meatie processing day - and is still laughing at us), her 15yr old son and 7yr old daughter. We played board games and made homemade pizza. It was a good time.

Sounds like a fun New Year! Stay warm and safe today! It's been raining buckets off and on all day today. Mud, mud, mud.

Just so you know... this forum is a horrible horrible place. Seriously.

:P

Last year I was so content to go to the feedstore, buy a few started plants, maybe some bulk seed and just plant my little garden - full of confidence and naivete'.

NOW... because of YOU....
I have been to 4 different websites for seeds, I am not looking at just the 'basics' but at canning and preserving and I want so much more than I can ever figure out what to do with it or where to plant it. I even thought of taking over Buddy's little paddock with my tiller and some beans!!

This has got to stop!

I mean.. not right now... but at some point.. it really does need to probably at least slow down?
