I've been tempted for awhile to fire up my little incubator and cook some of the duck eggs I see for sale at our local butchery... Just to see what happens ;)

That has crossed my mind also. But, I've resisted the urge. I don't need ducks. They are enjoyable in the summer, but NO WAY would I consider wintering them over. Got up to Minus 1*F this morning.

I loved my ducks in some ways, but they're way smellier than chickens, they eat a ton, and winter with ducks is just not fun. But I love them in someone else's yard! Lol

I've only raised ducks once. My 2 Mallard hens were visited by the neighbor's Pekin Drake. I loved that summer. It was a joy to watch the ducks working over the lawn, muttering little ducky secrets. Hubby and I were convinced that they were gossiping about us. Every now and then, they'd pause to shake the long gobs of duck slime off their beaks, then go back at their dibbling. The 2 girls shared a nest and hatched 24 babies.
