BeccaOH: Update of just STUFF

:barnie Those durn coons!!!! :barnie I was just over at BYC reading about the coons.. :barnie

I am so sorry about your loss. I just raised 10 Ameraucana chicks into teenagers. They are my favorite breed. I am so upset this happened to you.

I've been thinking about getting a gun too. (Don't tell my mother!) What kind of gun are you going to get? I've never had one.

Wow, Becca - sorry to hear about the chickens. That would just break my heart and make me see red at the same time.

That Dolly is a cutie!

p.s. maybe you need an attack rooster - I know of one that is available. :lau

Well, I don't know. I've shot just a few guns in my time, but my dad never really was into them to teach me. My cousin recommended some sort of pistol. My sweet pastor's wife friend just got a 9mm with shell shot ammo to protect her chickies. ;)

I need something that would kill a predator without blowing a hole in my coop. :he

Umm, where do I go to buy it??? :hu

Coon was on the prowl last night. At 10:30, I caught her climbing over the fence to where the ducks and geese are. Dogs and I chased her away. She dumped the food bowl in the trap, but didn't trip it. :tongue

Couldn't get darn ducks to go inside the coop. Locked coop tight, but I could tell my young tom was nervous as it got dark. He knocked a chicken off the roost so he could sit by the window. Two lone chicks roosted in their old pen. (BTW all 5 chicks raised by my broody roosted on top roost of main coop last night for the first time. They grow so fast! :D)

I was nervous for those ducks especially, so I went out after 11 pm and set up a flood light on the darkest area of their yard and hooked up a radio on top of the rain barrel to play all night. Geese played with the power cords, but both stayed on.

I love wildlife, but this one has crossed over the line from wild to nuisance. I don't need her (or him) to teach their young to mess with my poultry. Neighbor recommend fly bait in Pepsi if I can lock up my cats overnight. Aly and another friend both recommended leaving dead coons to decay along the property line.

So, I'm feeling a bit short on sleep today. Had to be up at 6 am and to the dentist by 8 am. Was so sleepy driving to town and fell asleep in the chair while waiting for them to be ready for me. :/

Picked about a cup more of tiny raspberries and mom found a pint of some local domestic ones in the store. Hope I can make up a batch of jam tonight.

Eggs are humming along. I haven't culled any yet, but I'm thinking 4 of the 8 peacock eggs won't produce.

I wouldn't recommend a pistol, I'd go with a gun you can easily aim with, unless your used to the pistol. I prefer .22 rifle for shooting at varmin. You should be able to google for gun shops in your area, or something I would think. I know you can order online from Cabelas and I think from Remmington themselves.
